I was getting all my protein in until yesterday

Recommended Posts

I was sleeved on the 9th of January and I know you all can help answer my question. Why was I getting in all my Protein and now for two days I can't eat some foods without feeling like it is stuck in my throat or full up my throat after a couple little sips. Are there certain foods that my sleeve may not like? is this normal. What if I get in all my fluids but can't get in all my Protein for two weeks will it go away when ai get to purred foods? The foods I have trouble with are bariatric smoothies and some Protein drinks. Bariatric hot chocolate and Soup goes down no problem.I'm confused.

Your pouch is swollen and certain liquids are more dense than others that's why it hurts when they pass through your stomach. As time passes, your sleeve will open up and you will be able to drink bigger sips. Try to take very small sips and that helps with the pain. I'm taking regular food now and still if I have a big piece, hurts bad.

It'll go away with time.

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
