tinytears 32 Posted January 19, 2013 I am 4 weeks post op (starting my 5th week) and should be adding new foods to my diet but I am afraid to eat anything different. Anyone have any suggestions on what to start with? I still just eat cottage cheese, yogurt,ff sf pudding, and protien shakes. I'm just afraid of things gettin "stuck". thanks for any help
Losingitforgood! 50 Posted January 19, 2013 Something amazing for me post op- eggs. (Didn't agree with my tummy beforehand much) they are so soft and go down so smooth. Many sleevers enjoy eggs post op. I also ate string cheese, and cozy shack sf rice pudding.< /p>
Aaron in Tulsa 147 Posted January 19, 2013 I was on full foods at 4 weeks and didn't have any problems. Thanksgiving was my 4th week and I ate turkey with no issues. If you chew your food well there's nothing to worry about.
SoCalDixieGal 172 Posted January 19, 2013 One other tip is to take your time between bites to give your stomach a chance to catch up to your mouth. We need to reset our "full" buttons. I'm currently banded and I'd sometimes have those "that last bite was too many" if I ate too quickly.
joatsaint 2,814 Posted January 19, 2013 One of my favorite things right now is refried Beans with salsa and some pureed hamburger meat. When I try new foods, I eat 1/4 to 1/2 teaspoon and wait 5 minutes. If it feels okay I eat a whole tsp and wait another 5 minutes. If my stomach doesn't like a food, I usually notice gas bubbles rolling around within 5 minutes.
newgirltx 41 Posted January 19, 2013 I was just like you. I think I drank most of what I consumed at your stage. I finally tried some very tender chili with quite a bit of liquid. That gave me the courage to start taking in bits of meat. As soon as I got maybe two tablespoons down in one sitting the next time I ate more. Take you time and listen to your body. Stay hydrated!! Beetracy 14 Posted January 19, 2013 Try canned tuna or chicken, string cheese, eggs, pot roast, Beans. At 4 weeks I made a tuna salad, covered it in cheese and baked and ate it. It was so good! Eat slow, start small, and take your time and you'll be fine!
NancyDec20 212 Posted January 20, 2013 Im 4wks post op too.. still on soft foods.. now I can have the ground turkey and stuff like that.. I have not yet tried that.. I can have sausage too.. I dont think my fear is of something getting stuck.. just take your time.. I lost my taste for scrambled eggs after surgery.. I eat string cheese.. but for me what is happening is I go.. OH I like that.. then after a bite or 2 im like.. I dont like that.. or it has no taste.. but I do take my time.. takes me 30 min to finish 1/2 a cup of whatever im eating.. so take it slow in the beginning.. your stomach will let you know if its right or not.. Ive learned to trust my stomach..
