Dr. Sherman Yu. He is the best. Do a search on youtube for him. He is at TLC in Houston. I wouldn't go with anyone else. He did mine and I have had no complications like others get.

My surgeon is in South Houston (Kema) - Dr Audencio Alanis. The nearest hospitals my insurance have on their approved list are in Houston. I chose him because of all the great reviews I found online and because he is located outside of the main Houston area. My co-pay for his service was 20% or about $2000. He does take credit cards, but does not offer financing.

I have been very happy with the way Dr. Alanis and his staff have treated me. www. dralanis.com

Between Beaumont vs Houston, I would go to a Houston surgeon without question. There are several very qualified bariatric surgeons here (in Houston). I don't know prices though.

I used Dr. Richard Collier (in Conroe) and he was fantastic. His cost was $12,000 cash patient. I chose him because he was also in network with my insurance company. My insurance doesn't cover bariatric surgery at all, but does cover complications if they arise, so I wanted an in network surgeon. I ended up having a suprise hernia and had to stay an extra day in the hospital. I wasn't charged anything extra. He takes cash, credit, and does financing.

I also chose him because he's the Chief of Surgery in a Centers of Excellence hospital. He has the same surgical staff with him all the time (doesn't rotate people through), and he uses the same floor on the hospital for recovering patients, and the nurses on that floor know him very well, know what he likes/recommends/prescribes, and are they are very intune with each other.

Other surgeons worth looking into in Houston (off the top of my head):

Dr. Sherman Yu

Dr. Terry Scarborough

Dr. Matthew St. Laurent (he's more expensive)

Dr. Carlos Ferrari

I have heard nothing but wonderful things (even from my own surgeon) about Dr. Davis in Houston.

Dr. Robert Davis, founder of The Davis Clinic in Houston, Tx, is absolutely wonderful. He's a great surgeon, but his staff is also very nice, caring, and supportive. I struck gold when I chose him.

I agree. Sherman Yu did an excellent job for me with no complications. i think his website says $15k if your self pay, but his work was covered by my insurance. He and his partner, terry Scarborough, both utilize the laporscopic approach and you can see Sherman demonstrate this if you search for Yu and spyder surgery on YouTube. FYI - I was alo told by an orthopedic surgen that Dr Scarbrough has the best hands in Houston for Weightloss surgery, but he doesn't accept insurance. The great thing is that yu and Scarbrough assist each other during surgery, so you get two top surgeons for the price of one. I'm 21 weeks out and down 85 lbs since my surgery.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Your so close now! It's gonna be great :) Wishing you a speedy recovery and looking forward to seeing how it goes!

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!

Hi everyone! I’m brand new here. I just went through all my pre-op requirements per my insurance company and now everything has been submitted and I’m just waiting for final approval and my surgery date. I’ve been doing research, watching YouTube videos, TikTok’s, ect.. trying to prepare my mind and what to expect so I’ll be ready for the surgery. I was so sure and so set and so ready and excited. However, now that I’ve done everything & it’s almost here, I am sooooooo scared! I know why I want it bc I’ve tried everything and I just don’t feel like I can lose weight by myself. I’m tired of being overweight my entire life. I’m miserable, but I keep psyching myself out afraid of GERD bc I know how that can be and I don’t want to have to get a bypass after already gaining the courage to even get VSG. I’m scared of complications like I’mgoing to regret doing it and be depressed that I didn’t just be more disciplined and try again to lose the weight on my own even sitting here typing this knowing in my mind i just can’t and don’t possess the discipline. I’m also afraid I won’t be able to handle the restrictions of the sleeve. What do I eat? I don’t know how to eat healthy really and don’t enjoy healthy food. I don’t know how to do this! I feel so defeated!Someone tell me they felt anything similar to this or am I not ready? I thought I was. I am so tired of being sick and tired and so tired of myself and so tired of being stuck and stuck in this body and somebody different on the outside from what I feel inside. I just want to ball up and cry.

Am feeling this right now. My surgery date is 4/1. Sign the consent tomorrow. I feel like I overloaded myself with too much info, too many opinions. Got to the point where I was wondering if I should do this. Then I thought of my reasons for taking this step and that settled my nerves. Still get moments of doubt but am striving forward. Am just going to follow my book from the surgeon. Joined this because I was told by my dietician that I should do this for support
