EricBermudez 0 Posted November 6, 2006 I have my Lapband in a higher position than normal ( Dr. told me that is the way they are putting it on people that suffer from compulsive eating disorders), so my way of eating is different. As my band is higher I have bigger chances of PBing. This is my problem>>>> For me to start eating solids I must drink a large glass of liquid to open the band. I believe the weight of the liquid produces pressure and makes food pass easier. I need to drink Iced Water and it takes me like 30 minutes to really start eating solids ( 1 hour in mornings ). I heard some Bandsters take Hot drinks to start opening the Band, which sounds more logical, cause the heat makes the band "softer". But for me there is no way I can open with Hot Drinks ( it has to be with ice). How many of you guys drink hot or cold????
DrewsLou 3 Posted November 6, 2006 I can drink either. As of right now I am a bit tighter in the AM but once I drink something (hot or cold) I am good to go!
Iluvharleys 15 Posted November 6, 2006 I can do either one, if I am really tight hot works better though.
lianna 3 Posted November 7, 2006 Hot does the trick for me. Occasionally very cold ice Water will even tighten me up. Another one of those weird ways we are all unique in this process.
GayleTX 1 Posted November 7, 2006 Iced drinks tighten me up. I always drink something warm before I eat, especially in the mornings The worst PB I ever had was trying to eat a meal after eating a snow cone!!!
*susan* 1,709 Posted November 7, 2006 Since getting my band, I cannot drink anything cold or it hurts. I have to have everything room temperature or warmer. I am very tight in the mornings and nothing but time seems to loosen me up then.
sunsett 2 Posted November 7, 2006 Are you eating and drinking at the same time or are you drinking 20-30 before you try eating? I am very careful with drinking before meals. Hot or cold doesn't seem to make a dfference with me.
EricBermudez 0 Posted November 7, 2006 Thanks for all that feedback. I drink 30 minutes before eating. Tried eating solids first but does not work.
PamRN 0 Posted November 7, 2006 It's gotta be ice cold for me. Hot just sits there feeling like a heartburn.
