fyre_storm 1,412 Posted January 19, 2013 I feel like the one thing I regret the most is not being able to be spontaneous anymore. My partner and I use to jump in the car and go away with out notice. Now I have to plan all my meals and if I don't ill get sick. Sigh I guess that's not to to bad.

*Dean* 1,594 Posted January 19, 2013 Mate just throw your hiking / dancing shoes with some Protein Bars in a backpack and hit the road! We've been away a few times and there's always something VSG friendly to eat if you're out and about.
fyre_storm 1,412 Posted January 19, 2013 Thanks dean. I hadn't thought about that. Lol
selbradey 321 Posted January 19, 2013 Fyre, you are doing great. I actually have to thank you for relieving my pre-op jitters night before surgery your post made me laugh all the way into the OR! I told my therapist that when i go out un prepared, i get anxiety. She said meal planning helps and prepping my food in a lunch baggy will too. Im single, but if i had a partner, i would teach them what foods i can have and maybe let them surprise me Also, in learning to read food labels and making good choices, i can be a lil spontaneous as long as i know what the ingredients and fat/sugar/protein content are. Good luck

It's all new 453 Posted January 19, 2013 I have a stash of food in my own little cupboard just for that occasion. Several bags of beef Jerky, some small Peanut Butter containers (sometimes I need a treat or I get to the end of the day and need extra calories), some mini cliff bars (true emergency only, they aren't filling), Protein shakes, 100 calorie packages of nuts. I also keep Greek yogurt on hand - the Protein Shakes and yogurt go in the cooler. That will get me through all but one meal per day while traveling and then I eat out once daily - it's easy enough to find a sleeve friendly dinner. I'm going to Mexico next week with my husband who is getting sleeved (woohoo!!!), and in my carry-on I am bringing all of the above other than the yogurt to get me through the entire trip.
