Im 3 weeks out, I should have started stage 4 diet today. Since it hurts to eat soo bad I had crystal light for Breakfast which was disgusting I took about 2 sips. I couldnt take it and decided not to eat. Which I have been doing alot lately. Around about 4pm I had the worst tummy ache felt like naseau. I hated it and just thought I was having pains like always. around 9:30 idecided to make a mashpotatoe for the first time. I was afraid my belly wouldnt like it but it actually went well. The terrible pain I usually get didnt happend for a while so now I think maybe that pain is telling me im full and the other pain was telling me im hungry. I have no idea but my tummy doesnt hurt now. :) im happy and maybe tomorrow I will try stage 4 im still afraid :(

Hello! I had an incident today that proved to me that I need to eat!! at least eat more often...even if it is just little bites. I was at petco with my aunt, started feeling nauseated...next thing you know I am starting to pass out. I was dizzy, blurry vision, my legs were giving out..I wanted to sit down, but didn't have a chair. My aunt was trying to hold me up while yelling for help so they brought a chair over real quick. I seriously thought I was gonna faint onto the floor. It was the weirdest feeling ever. Once I sat down, I felt better and eventually it passed. Moral of the story, You gotta eat! To keep up your strength and your blood sugar, even if you aren't diabetic. I know it hurts to eat, I went through the same thing. I hope your stomach heals up soon! :-)

I'm in stage 3 just started yesterday. I try to eat but can only get a few bites in. I hade the survey December 31,2012. I'm surprised at how soon you are able to start stage 4.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
