How does yours feel?

Recommended Posts

I am recently sleeved-officially 1 week and 1 day today! :) I know plenty of bypass people but few sleevers. So it is hard to find folks to talk to who share my experience and I have questions. I have run several scenarios through my mind and just wonder if my sleeve is acting 'normally', or at least like someone elses. I have heard of people who say they feel full after 1 or 2 oz of liquid or Water. I sip all the time to get in my Proteins and liquids. I have noticed that I 'feel' Protein Drinks more than water or sugar free drinks. I guess it is because the Protein drinks are heavier? Anyway, I feel when it passes through my stomach. That's when I know I have taken too big of a swallow. But I can usually feel the protein with an average sip. But once it moves through I can sip again. It takes a while to get everything down. I nurse a Protein Shake for several hours. But water seems to go right down. I don't feel discomfort. I don't get 'full'. So I guess everything is okay. I am just wondering how other sleevers 'feel'?

That's about how it was for me at your stage. I noticed that I had to burp a bit after every swallow of Water. I could hardly get any down at first. I am a year out and sometimes I can't take much water, sometimes I can. Thicker stuff always makes more of an impression. Some things go down pretty easy, normally juicier foods.

I am 11 days post op and have the same feeling. Although yesterday I was able to eat a whole pudding cup:). I am afraid to open up that staple line. I just take my time. Every day gets easier. I am craving real food... I think its all in my head!! Lol

Wow! A pudding cup! I look forward to the day when I can do that. They say I can have sugar free Jello. I have not managed that one. It just felt bad going down. I am doing the great with the liquids though!

Give it time. I want to say day 6 things got easier. Today, I was out doing errands and got real fatigued! Stopped at a smoothie store and got a high Protein low carb smoothie. It was vanilla with bannana and Protein Powder, it helped sooo much!! I can not wait until my menu gets easier, I sip on Water all day but, need to pack yougart and protein drinks in a small cooler bag!! Time gets away when you are out.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
