Surgery Feb. 28th!?!

Recommended Posts

Hey guys I am scheduled for surgery on the 28th of February...the great thing about it all is that my sister is getting the surgery done the same day!! Hopefully it doesn't get postponed due to the insurance but I just wanted to know for those of you that already had your surgery what would you recommend to buy as far as utensils and measuring things?...

go to family dollar and go to the dollar section where they have the stuff in the big pink boxes and get the tiny bowls with lids, they habe 2&3 ounce bowls with lids in a 4&3 pack. The 4pack jas lids and are great for eating out of when you start sopt and pureed foods and the 3pack has slider lids that are great for storing Snacks like nuts and stuff, they fit right i n your purse and you dint have to remove thr lids to get to your snack, i also went to beb bath and beyond and bought demitasse spoons and appetizer forks and plates and small Soup bowls for like 1&2 dollars a piece. Just because were eating like babies dont mean we have to use baby cutlery ;)

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Anyone had the TORe procedure? How did it go? How much weight did you loose?

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
