Kaila312 19 Posted January 18, 2013 What are your thoughts about salad? I am craving one! But not sure if I Gould eat one or not. I'm 5 almost 6 weeks post op. how long did you wait?
O.T.R. sleever 3,386 Posted January 18, 2013 A bit of salad is fine. Make sure to add eggs, chicken, cheese. Or some other Protein.< /p>
Carly4HandinSD 313 Posted January 18, 2013 I started having salad at about 6 weeks out, I am actually having one as I read your post! Ha! Just be careful of the dressing you put on it. Some of the really creamy or oily ones may not agree with you too well if you have a sensitive stomach after surgery And adding in some Protein is a good idea as well! IsB 209 Posted January 18, 2013 I started eating salads 2 weeks out. I always eat the Protein, tuna or grilled chicken, before I start the salad. You don't want to get full before you get your protein in.
lilbearzmom 584 Posted January 18, 2013 I was told no salad or raw vegetables until 2 months after surgery. What did your doctor/NUT recommend? Go with that!
KarissaKhaos 170 Posted January 18, 2013 I love salad, but unfortunately at 6 months out it sits in my stomach like a rock and I can't tolerate it.
Alithinos 19 Posted January 18, 2013 Except for some fruit, my surgeon and nutritionist said no raw foods for 3 months. They are hard to digest and you don't want to cause issues since you are still healing. 5-6 weeks is too soon IMO.
FeeIsMe2 508 Posted January 18, 2013 I had to wait until 2 months for salad.< /p>
Kaila312 19 Posted January 18, 2013 Thanks guys! My dietitian said no sooner than 4 weeks and to try it when ready! But it looks like I am going to wait. Better safe than sorry
