2 days post op - feeling fine

Recommended Posts

Had my surgery wednesday morning.. I came out of surgery feeling great. At night, starting feeling super nauseous, they gave me gravol and zofran. I felt so much better. Didn't need any pain meds at all. I got home this morning, a little sore but I feel just fine. My scars don't look bad and I'm already down 6 lbs since surgery. I'm not hungry at all but sipping on Water with crystal light all day long.. For all of you getting surgery soon, be prepared for a rough 24 hours right after surgery but then it;s all smooth sailing from there!! Good luck!

Congrats! Welcome to the losers bench. I too had a fairly incident free recovery. I was only nauseous in the hospital but never threw up. Im 6 weeks out and havent thrown up once (knock on wood). The only time I needed my pain meds was in the morning and only for a couple of days. I eat about 2 ounces of food every couple of hours or so. I never eat to the point of being uncomfortable. I drink Decaf tea pretty much all day long and can drink just like I did pre-surgery. I dont have to watch my sips any more which is good. I do take little bits though and ate with a baby spoon until I trained myself how big of bites to take. Good luck on your journey!

Also done on Wednesday felling great today except for the nasty liquid I had to drink for my leak test. Other than that it was suggested that I use a heating pad and lay on my left side and I slept like a baby. Going out now to do some walkin and some shopping.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
