Hi Suzannesh, it's great to hear from someone over 4 years out! Great job keeping yourself below goal!!

I am very interested to find out when/if your hunger came back, do you still have good restriction, do you feel your sleeve is still working or is it mostly you doing the maintaining, how what's your diet like in a average day, etc?

Thanks again for posting.

You have a lot of great questions. I still NEVER feel hungry. I just know I need to eat. I have an excellent restrictions. My sleeve works everyday because of the restriction. I walk 7 days a week because I love it. I used to be the person who hated to exercise. So the best way to describe how I maintain my weight loss is calories in calories out. I eat about 1,200 calories a day and with the walking I maintain my 105 weight loss. On an average day. I start with

For lunch, I could have a salad with some Protein in it or half a sandwich. snack in the afternoon some fruit, dinner is always protein, veggies and maybe a some kind of whole grain role. I do have desert now and then and only a small amount and NOT everyday. I hope that helps you. Hugs, Suzanne

Enjoy it no. But that being said I don't feel awful about myself. I always feel beautiful and I don't hate my body.

I hate that I'm not in shape, and I hate I have to spend twice as much in clothes.

I have been overweight my whole life (besides a year and a half of being bulimic and addicted to drugs where I lost 160lbs and for down to 140lbs).

I love to do active things and I hate that my weight stops me from doing a lot of those things anymore. I'm also doing this for my kids. So that they can live healthy lives and I can make the most of their childhood. I'm 21 and I'm not waiting until I do have health issues (I have none as of yet).

WOW you have been through so much. I admire you for why you are doing things. You will never regret it. I wish you great success with your WLS. Being healthy will feel good! Hugs, Suzanne

I don't know if I'd say I like being fat, but I do feel like being this fat protects me and isolates me from perceived dangers. I don't have to worry about being a target of anyone's because I subconsciously work very hard at being forgettable and being fat helps a lot, I'm just a part of the furniture in the room being 300lbs. I'm having surgery on the 5th which is getting very close and I know this is one of those emotional issues i'm going to have to deal with if i'm going to be successful.

I wish you great success with you weight loss journey. I hope that dealing with the emotional part will be very helpful to you. Living a healthy life will feel good, and you can do this. Hugs, Suzanne

Hi Suzannesh, thanks for getting back to me, it was good to hear from you. You have come along way and I really hope I do as well as you. Support is so important with WLS. It is good to hear from someone who understands how I feel these days and the struggle just to get from one day to another. My family doctor has not been supportive of me getting this surgery but my endocrinolgist is happy I am. I see my family doctor this week to set up appointment for all my blood work and EKG. I am bring my husband with me for moral support. I sure hope my dr does not give me too much of a problem and makes me second guess myself(Again). I really have made up my mind and I am going thru with the surgery. I will keep you posted my appointment is on Wednesday. Take care and have a great week.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
