I have always run hot, night sweats and all but now I get chilled easily. Have to wear socks at home and am all bundled up. I havent lost a huge amount of weight (38 down from my highest of 242) but apparently its enough to make me stop sweating all the time. Now that I think about it, I havent even been sweating when getting ready in the morning. Yay!

I am 52 and was ALWAYS hot! Now, I am always bundled up under a throw or sweater... I guess some of the 48lbs of fat padding was keeping me warm!

I'm pre-op but thought I read somewhere that the loss of ghrelin produced by the part of the stomach removed can make you cold.

I stopped having a sweating problem. Not even having my long hair down keeps me warm anymore whereas before it would make me so hot!

My doctor told me I would be a lot colder after the surgery. I haven't found it to be true yet. I always have cold feet anyway.

I wore shorts, sleeveless short night-gowns, now I wear long-sleeve pants and shirts, sometimes I get up and put sweatshirts on in bed. I hate socks, even in the winter, now I wear fuzzy socks and I wish there was a place I could get leg warmers. I have never ever been cold in my life, now I'm freezing constantly.

Other than that I feel great and look great, just need to get used to being cold and layering.

I freeze all the time and I used to be hot natured. I have the heat on 75 right now in my office, wearing wool socks, fuzzy lined sherpa boots, a sweater and an undershirt and my feet and hands are freezing. Same everyday. I sit here in a coat too most of the time. As soon as I get home today looking forward to thick pjs and multiple blankets in front of the fireplace :).

Yes! I am always cold. especially my hands and feet. My feet would get cold easily before surgery but never my hands. Now I am always cold. I still sweat while exercising but not as much.

So glad to know I am not alone. I am always cold and hearing so many of you say your experiencing the same thing is comforting.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
