Traci J. 207 Posted January 17, 2013 I am a month out tomorrow, and although my clothes are much baggier, I still "look" the same in the mirror to me. I took measurements and pics the day of surgery and will be taking them again tomorrow....I've heard you can see the difference in pics. I take measurements for the stalls...cause I heard when you're not losing weight your body is losing inches to catch up to the weight loss....as long as I see the downward fall, whether I see it in the mirror myself, I'll be good. I love not wanting to eat, I'm never hungry and have to remind myself to eat something every 3-4 hrs. and get all my Protein in. I have noticed increased mood swings around TOM only. Energy is good, though tummy muscles are still weak since the surgery, but are getting better every day. Good luck on your journey...it's wonderful
lsereno 2,525 Posted January 17, 2013 Oh I still see that fat girl! Still not sure how I really look, because pics vary so much. I know I'm not fat, but in some pics I look thinner, in some I look more wrinkled, etc. Looking in a mirror at my backside was how I first realized how skinny I am. From the front, I still look fatter to myself. I'm never upset about being able to eat less. On the contrary, I miss the restriction I had in the first few months when a few bites of popcorn or two saltines was a big snack. Now I have to rely on my self control to stay on track and it's a struggle! My energy is fabulous, but it took about 5 months post-op for that to happen. FeeIsMe2 508 Posted January 17, 2013 I. I see a less fat girl in the mirror... 2. No I that's why I had this surgery in the first place. 3. I get cranky if I wait too long in between eating (forget to eat) 4. I have so much energy, it's amazing the amount I get done, especially since I'm not on the couch eating chips! nikkiwren701 7 Posted January 17, 2013 Does anyone know of what to do to make sure you won't have a lot of skin once you start losing the weight? I see some people who has had the surgery and look great! And I've seen some people who's thighs hang to their calfs.
takroom 192 Posted January 17, 2013 1) I have noticeably lost weight but still see a chubby girl in the mirror (everyone reassures me I'm not) 2) I don't get mad but sometimes wish I could eat another bite 3) Mood Swings not as often as in the beginning stages when I was on the liquid diet 4) definitely have more energy than I did when I was heavier Hope this helps but remember we are all different

Some people say that after loosing weight they still see that fat girl. Has that happened to you? Do u get mad because u cant eat as much? Do u have mood swings? How different is your energy level? No, I do not see the fat girl. I barely remember her. But I am shocked by what I DO see in the mirror, a skinny girl. No, I have never been mad because I can't eat much. No, I do not have mood swings, but I am post-menopausal, and have never been depressed longer than an afternoon. The change in energy level is indescribable. I feel like I am half my age. Before everything was a chore, even turning over in bed at night. Of course, the first few weeks bring low energy, but once you get past that...

Yes, regardless of what I lose I always have felt like the fat girl. Doesn't bother me that I can eat so little. No moodier than I was before. Yeah I'm tired but need to get more Protein & Water in. I do not get made because I can't eat as much. I enjoy each and every bite and I know when to quit. Energy level is much higher, sex was not bad before, but WOW!!! No mood swings, not anything different than prior to surgery. It takes quite a while for your head to catch, he is operating on your tummy, sadly, our brain has to adjust!! arathfon.rn 32 Posted January 18, 2013 I still see the fat girl even though I have lost 63lbs. The other nurses at work tell me how thin I look but I really have a hard time seeing it. Maybe my head will catch up one day. Lol highest weight 278. Dos 271 cw
Aussiegirl 580 Posted January 18, 2013 I am almost 16 months out and lost 170 pounds. Yes I do still see the fat girl in the mirror, mainly due to the excess skin. I am hoping to get it removed and then see a better person in the mirror. Clothed I feel normal but without clothes I see the "fat". I do know that the size of clothes I am buying are small..but takes a while for the brain to catch up. I dont get mad cause I cant eat as much, really dont miss the quantity. No more than normal on the mood swings Energy levels are generally alot higher..especially when I am working out as well
Mason 122 Posted January 18, 2013 As I have a history of yo-yo dieting with a maximum BMI of 38, my self image is more of an average-weighted person than someone who is (was) obese. The wife and I went to TGIF last night for dinner. She ordered the baby back ribs and gave me about 2oz's worth (58g) of meat and about an ounce of mashed potatoes. I was full to the brim after consuming those 3ozs of food and not the least bit resentful that I was satiated after just a few bites. As others have written, that's precisely why I had the surgery. The only emotional reaction I am having to the restriction is relief. I do wish I could drink with my meals, especially at restaurants, but I can live with that loss. The difference in my energy levels is nothing short of remarkable. Two weeks ago, I joined my wife and brother-in-law at a local theme park and walked for five hours without pain or fatigue. I now accompany my wife to the mall as often as I can and I never get tired from walking around. Before the surgery, I could not walk more than a few yards without the soles of my feet feeling as if they were on fire. As my sleep apnea dissipated after I lost the initial nine pounds, I now enjoy a good night's sleep and wake up feeling refreshed and relaxed. My blood glucose levels are now normal with medication (88mg/dl fasting). I was just instructed to reduce my medication down to one pill a day. After I lose another 20lbs, I know I will be able to discontinue the medication altogether. I am thrilled with my results. The first month or so is difficult, especially the first two weeks when you're limited to liquids. However, as the weight comes off and you start reclaiming your life, you will know you have made the right decision.
misstiffsue 62 Posted January 18, 2013 1. I still see the fat girl. Even though I know I am thinner and the number on the scale is less and the size of my clothes are smaller. 2. Don't care that I can't eat much. It is so much less stressful to not feel obsessed over food.< /p> 3. I don't have mood swings. I was a little extra emotional for a few weeks after surgery but that went away. 4. My new found energy has changed my life!
