Tell only trust individuals. Don't tell someone who does not NEED to know. This will give you support from the important people you really care about and anyone else can just believe you are getting serious about this change you are making to eat healthy and work out. THIS TAKES EMOTIONAL PRESSURE OFF OF YOU. The less pressure to please others, to succeed because others are watching, the better off you will be emotionally and psychologically. This is advice from a dear friend of mine I have known for years. She is a Clinical Psychologist and says remember this:

Anyone you tell who is NOT 100% loyal to YOU and what YOU NEED will talk to 100 people and tell them all "the news" if only to elavate themselves above you. I have known her a long time and she has never steered me wrong.

Hey all! I've lurked and liked a lot but haven't posted in a while. I was successfully sleeved Tues 3/12.

I went home the next day. I have been doing great! The first few days was pretty routine : wake up' date=' use my "breathing game" as my boys call it, walk around my house at least 15 minutes (I worked in loads more to include light chores and lifting 3lb weights), sip on my Water the whole while, take more psin meds, sleep for a few hours, repete. By the weekend I was awake more, moving more, and drinking more including my Protein.< /p>

Yesterday I went a full day with out pain meds. And today I drove! ;) I took myself to the store so I could buy some things for the pureed stage. I also met my friend for "lunch" and got a few things for Easter. I'm having my one week follow up now (in the waiting room). And boy am I glad because the incision sites are getting itchy! No other symptoms though so I think I may be allergic to the strips.

Anyhow, I know there's a lot of anxiety and excitement that goes along with this surgery. Especially in light of the tragic passing of lifesaveremt. But let me just say this, we all know there are risks. Shoot one could die from a blood clot that broke free while flying. Everyday we live there is risk. Everyday we are dying. For me, it's a matter of how can I live the fullest life possible in whatever time I have. Despite my best efforts there were lots of things that my "fat self" prohibited me from doing. I have been on a mission to break away from the chains that hold/held me back.

I started my pre op liquid diet at 258.6. Today I weigh 235.1.

This will take work and it involves risks but to have much you must risk much...nothing ventured nothing gained. There so much I want to gain....

My health back

The ability to run, jump, bend, etc without knee pain

Confidence in myself and so I mo longer feel ashamed for looking this way

The ability and desire to go dancing, shopping, traveling, etc with my friends and family

I was never told I couldn't drive..hmm..is this bc you were taking pain meds? I only took one bc my back was killing me from lying in bed too long this morning..lol.

Sunshine' date=' one of the major things that I noticed is that i don't swell/retain Water since the surgery! It's amazing! I used to be puffy & if i wore socks, i'd have the imprint on my shins for hours after taking them off. After surgery, that went away completely!

Regarding the blood thinners, i now know why he canceled them for me - i'm allergic to beef & the heparin has beef in it. Who knew! <img src='http://www.bariatricpal.com/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.png' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':)' />

To all, i was sleeved on 3/13 & i am feeling good. I lost 7 pounds on my week of pre-op & i have lost another 7.5 since then. I feel that that is pretty good for me as i tend to be a slow loser...but then i read about people who have lost more than me in that timeframe & they are disappointed & think their weight loss is too slow, which really bums me out & does a number on my head!!! I know we are all different. I just start to panic & worry that i wont lose anymore weight! I'm having a mini meltdown today about that. Today is the first day that the scale didn't go down!! Other than that, everything is good. ;-)[/quote']

I feel the same way when I read others weight loss!! I'm following the rules exactly as I'm supposed to and I have lost 13 pounds since my 3/6 surgery. I know we are all going to lose differently but it is still a head trip for me. I'm thinking of all the good I'm not eating and thinking the weight should just drop off me lol

I feel the same way when I read others weight loss!! I'm following the rules exactly as I'm supposed to and I have lost 13 pounds since my 3/6 surgery. I know we are all going to lose differently but it is still a head trip for me. I'm thinking of all the good I'm not eating and thinking the weight should just drop off me lol

Well I think what we have to keep in mind is that people who have more weight to lose will lose weight faster. The closer they get to goal the slower it will come off. So unless you are the same weight, age, and gender you should expect things to be different. And even if you are, things will still be different. We are individuals and that's what makes us beautiful and unique. Embrace YOU. This is YOUR journey to a healthier you and you are doing GREAT!!

Yes, it's because I was on pain meds. I was drowsy on them and just kinda out of sorts at times so I didn't feel comfortable driving like that. Now that I'm off them completely I feel confident to drive. And it makes me :)

maybe we shoud all have a think of the recent member that has passed on. when times r tough pre and post op. remember that we have an opportunity to change our lives. sadly he did not get that chance.

I'm sympathetic! Day two that the scale hasn't budged. Hmm. I'm following this diet perfectly too! It's making me crazy! And I could tell when I woke up that I hadn't lost anything. I don't feel hungry either. Could i be eating (drinking) too much? Maybe my system dropped weight so quickly that it has to like re-boot or something?! I'll keep at it. I'm just hoping that my body will lose weight on 700 - 800. calories instead of 300 - 400. (Gulp!)

I started this journey the end of dec. Have all my test done and dr. surgeon sent me to was going to clear me for surgery except my thyroid levels are off so cant get cleared until that is fixed. I was hoping for beginning of April but at this rate I will be lucky if its May. please say some prayers we can get the thyroid fixed quickly.I have been hiding behind my fat for about 23 years and I am ready to stop hiding from what has been hurting me for so long. being sexually abused' date=' and living a life where I was always told I was not good enough or everything was my fault. I have finally realized I deserve better and so does my family and I AM WORTH LIVING and being happy[/quote']

I'm so sorry. Hang in there. I started in June 2012 and got my surgery March 13th. Use this time to work on loving yourself and learning how to believe in yourself and self-worth again.

There's a study that found 70% of WLS patients were sexually abused or assaulted in one form or another, according to my counselor. Honey you have only been trying to protect yourself with your weight gain, and that is a very common defense mechanism, as research shows.

Congratulations on being brave enough to not give up any more of your life to your abusers.

      Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
      1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

        All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

      I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
