kimkai75 59 Posted March 18, 2013 My prayers are with his loved ones. I haven't learned anything about how far out he was. It really has me scared. My surgeon puts all of his patients on blood thinners. Is anyone else going to be put on blood thinners? Well his surgery was Feb 27 and according to ppl who grew close to him he passed on the 11th....I'm not 100% sure and would hate to post inaccurate information out of respect for him and his loved ones. I'm only mentioning it because he was and is a brother to GST. We need to keep his memory alive.
jilliemay 12 Posted March 18, 2013 So saddened & shocked to hear about lifesavermt! Omg, that's depressing. My heart & prayers go out to the family. I was sleeved on 3/13. They were supposed to send me home on a week of blood thinner injections, but the dr canceled them. I dont know why. Im just taking an aspirin a day. I guess we never know when its our time...but gosh, it just doesn't seem fair.

lilstyler 19 Posted March 18, 2013 I never heard anything about us being on blood thinners afterwards...omg...i need to get up and go walking now! I was sleeved 3/13 as well and typically swell a lot in my lower extremities. My heart hurts for his family! I was on blood thinners (heparin) for the three days I was in the hospital. I'm nervous I should have been on them longer? I wonder if I should start taking a baby aspirin daily for a while?

lilstyler 19 Posted March 18, 2013 II got one shot of lovenox in the hospital. Nothing before or after. Thankfully im a nurse and know signs n symptoms of blood clot and I am quite active with my walking! I've looked online, but tell us what the signs and symptoms are if you wouldn't mind? Do they all have to be present or are any of them definite signs to get your butt to the ER?
PeacockMama 119 Posted March 18, 2013 Usually a DVT (deep vein thrombosis, aka blood clot) starts in the calves. If you have a reddened, hardened, or painful nodule on your calve which is warm to the touch, go to the hospital! Do not under ANY circumstances massage it or rub it, that could cause it to "break free" and travel to your heart or brain.
PeacockMama 119 Posted March 18, 2013 **even if its a false alarm who cares, go get it checked and tell them you've recently had surgery. Its YOUR Life and you have to be your own advocate.
joeygrocks 17 Posted March 18, 2013 I'm a March Sleever! March 28th. I was very happy with my decision and set to go, but I was a little nervous this weekend when I heard about the passing. I know there are risks and I'm trying to stay positive. Good luck to all March sleevers. We can do this!
