Too much weight loss

Recommended Posts

Is their a point were you might be losing to much weight?? I know that sounds really weird. I thought I would NEVER have these thoughts coming from my mouth. My weight Pre-op was 255 and now it's 129.5. And it's only been 11months on the 20th of January. I'm scared that I'm going to get to thin and look sick. I eat all the time . my calorie intake is like 1650. Is it going to level out soon????

I can totally relate to you , I'm tired of people saying you look great but stop losing. I love my size . But getting nervous as to where the weight loss stop. My husband is even looking at me in a wired self conscious way .

The same with my husband, he's like you look great but your done now right... I tell him I'm trying. I'm not doing anything to lose weight for the past two months.. And I'm still losing yesterday I was 132 and today 129. I'm 5"7 and I went from a 24 pants size to a 5/7 I'm happy. BUT enough already.

Everything I have ever read states that weight loss levels out at a point. My wife and I have hit the point of stopping, me at around 220, her at 127. We may be able to lose more but we are concentrating on being in shape. Without the loose skin we would be 5-10 pounds lighter. What you don't want is the body burning muscle. If you build your muscles through exercise and get proper Protein and other nutrition you will level out and look good.

It is the same principle: calories in and calories burned determine weight loss or gain. As we all know, gaining weight is easy, don't overcompensate.

I am having this problem, I am NOT trying to lose anymore, but my husband is saying, "you need to gain some back". People are saying my face is too thin. But I feel great and I am very happy with my success, I have exceeded my expectations and I never thought that would happen.

That sounds like a good problem to have as long as it is healthy.

My surgeon's goal was 150 (healthy BMI) and I wanted to go five lbs lower. Actually, when I hit 170 and a size 12, I was thrilled, had I never lost another lb I'd have been happy.....but it happened fast and I knew I wasn't finished. That is when I decided my goal would be 145 and/or a size 8. I kept losing and losing, I got down to 132 and was freaking out, I couldn't stop, my size 4's were baggy. They had me up my calories, to maintain she said 1200 - 1400 calories per day, I'd have to find what was going to work for me. I was doing good to get in 800 calories, so I had to add a couple of Snacks or another small meal. I'm grazing, I am comfy doing that.....I like LF grahams with Natural Peanut Butter and Snackwell Cookies. Anyway, I needed to gain a little back, I leveled out at 135 and got back up to 145. I find it easy to maintain between 144 and 148. I still wear 4's and 6's. Depends on the style and brand. Shirts are all over the place, I have some smalls, usually a medium is right, but I even have a large or two. Anyway, this is more information than you asked for. I know I could lose more if I wanted to, but I was looking toooooo thin. Yes, there IS such a thing!! LOL

I really wish that it was that easy, plus to stay on a healthy diet aswell is not that easy. And don't get me wrong, I LOVE the new me. But I'm scared if I lose more weight that ill look sick. My BMI is 19.6 now and I really think its to low. And I eat all day long. I mean all day long :-)

You may need to add some dense and high caloric food that is still healthy to bring up your calories to over 2000 so that you can see if you can level out. Perhaps add 2 Protein Bars, avocado, nuts, full fat cheese, Peanut Butter, fruit. Perhaps a nutritionist visit might be warranted. You would think with calories - it is more of a numbers game...making sure you are taking in more calories than you are burning. What have you tried already to level out. 1650 calories is not all that high of calories for a "normal" weight person, after all.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
