How intense was the pain after the sleeve? I saw a youtube video of someone that compared it to a c-section. I've had two c-sections and hope its nothing like that. Of course, I won't be all hormonal and have to take care of a newborn. But still, I'm traveling alone and worried about how I'm going to be able to manage without my husband.

Hopefully this works...trying to post my MX photos. The first bunch should be of the hotel room' date=' then the hotel lobby, then the hospital room, then Dr. Ortiz, Eduardo (patient coordinator), and Abraham (driver).

Thanks You're awesome.

I have never had kids, so I don't know about that comparison, but it really does feel like you've done 1000 sit-ups and it gets better everyday. I had surgery on Thursday and didn't take any pain meds after Sunday. I travelled alone and I flew home Monday with no issues. I do recommend getting wheelchair service at the airports on the way home, though--you may feel a little fatigued or just not feel like walking through a large (or small) airport. Plus, it cuts down on wait time in security check line and boarding the plane.

Icon how r u feeling?

I feel great, thanks for asking! The cold is pretty much gone and I lost 5.5 pounds since yesterday (according to the scale), which is the first big jump I have noticed on the scale since surgery. Also, I told 3 friends about my surgery on Friday night and they were super supportive, so that felt good.

How much have you lost do far and what's your typical daily diet. I'm going real slow and thinking that I'm doing wrong.

I really want to have something like that done when I am there. How much is it if you don't mind saying? And where do you get it done that? Also how do you find out about this kind of stuff or research it? Sorry for the 20 questions. I just put so much time into researching in to picking my doctor and hospital. Now I have been seen lots of information on face peels glow peels Botox etc.

They told me there would be a little peeling...I look like I've been in a fire lol. My whole face is coming off! I have to show my face at work tomorrow and I'm so not looking forward to it. The good thing is that I can see a difference :)

I have lost 15.5# so far, which includes the 9# I put on in the hospital, so I'm just starting to get below my pre-op weight. Like I said, today was the first big jump I saw on the scale and that's 10 days after surgery (8 days out of the hospital and off the IV fluids). I was starting to be scared that I wasn't ever going to lose, but it is my understanding that the weight loss picks up after you lose the hospital weight, so we'll see--so far, so good.

As for my daily diet, I'm technically still in the full liquids stage, but I have honestly been adding in a few pureed foods (a few days early) over the past couple of days because 1) I was desperate to chew something, 2) I knew my sleeve could handle it, and 3) I wanted to make sure that I would indeed be able to feel a full feeling (which I didn't on Clear Liquids at all and only sort of did on thicker, creamy liquids--I have since had it explained to me why this is). Yesterday I had a Protein shake for Breakfast, 4 oz. of pureed yellow lentils for lunch, and 3 oz. of pureed shrimp for dinner and the day before, I had a Protein Shake for Breakfast, 4 oz. of strained cream of potato Soup with 1/2 scoop of plain unjury powder for lunch, and 3 oz. of pureed Great Northern Beans for dinner. I also usually get in at least 40 oz. of Water (with Crystal Light) and I'm trying to increase it since I am moving to purees and won't have as many other fluids to help get me to 64 oz. of fluids/day.

Ok it took like 3 days for me to lose something. I'm still pretty bloated. Once thats gone I'll prob see better results. I too added a lil mush to my diet which was Split Pea Soup. I smashed the potatoes and carrots and skipped the ham. I was also still really hungry on the clear liquids.

Thanks

Does the marriot have microwaves?

There was no microwave in either of the rooms I stayed in, but I was informed that the kitchen would warm up food for me if I needed them to.

Thanks icon123,

My mom who's going with me was wanting to use it for her meals rather then having to eat room service. Thank you for those pictures, I check in Wednesday and I know we'll be comfortable!

So glad to hear you're still doing well.15.5 is amazing. That is the first I have heard about gaining weight in the hospital. I'm so confused. I don't know why I haven't read that until this point. What causes that much gain in the hospital?

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
