I've been cursed by a gypsy to lose weight until I'm gone!

I feel like I'm never going to be able to eat again!

I was sleeved 3 weeks ago, and so far I've lost about 20 pounds, which Im happy about, but when does eating get easier?

Every time I try to eat anything with any kind of texture to it. like Soup with a few chunks, I fill up so fast and it feels like the food it stuck in my throat and that I might upchuck.

Today I tried to eat some green Beans, which went down ok, but when I tried some pork loin, that did me in. I'm about 5'9 and I started off at 260.

Now I'm at about 240 which I'm thrilled about, but if this eating thing stays this hard, I'm going to be a pencil neck geek in a few months!

I really don't want to get down to something ridiculous like 140 pounds.

I don't want to weigh less than my 15 year old son!

I still need to be able to kick his ass if necessary (kidding)! Come on people!

I mean, when and how does your body reach some sort of equilibrium? And when does that happen for most people?

Losing weight is awesome. Not being able to eat anything sucks!

At 3 weeks your stomach is still sensitive. I'm 7 weeks and eat everything fine, just small portions though

Mate, I'm 10 weeks out yesterday and 60+ pounds down. It does get easier, quite quickly.

Pork loin was probably a bit ambitious at this stage. At bit early for any dense Protein.

At the stage I'm at I feel like I can eat anything I want, just in really small amounts. The amount varies depending on the food. From here the amount I can eat will slowly increase.

Yeah guys I shoulda known better - it wasn't dry or anything, but as I was eating the pork I loin I was thinking, "man this sure is dense" - yeah dense is a good word for that, Dean!

I cannot currently foresee a day where I might enjoy a steak again! That may never happen.

Dean - I cant believe you've lost 66 pounds in 10 weeks? That's insane!

Orthoman it gets easier I lost 110 pounds in 4 months and met my goal weight and past it by just hang in there I have not found anything that I can not eat now but it is very limited I was eating steak at about 2 months out but believe me you won't eat the whole steak in one sitting. I am now 6 months out and down about 120 pounds from 280 pounds to 160 now I feel so much better now and no blood pressure meds

Thanks.

You will eat steak again. I have, but the same thing just small amounts.

I'm an Aussie, so I've had my fill of plate sized rumps and T-bones with all the trimmings. 2 nights ago I grilled up a piece of beef fillet to medium rare. A 300 gram piece sliced up to feed the whole family. It went down really well.

It gets easier. However, I know that feeling you are referring to. At three weeks, pork should't be in your diet. At three weeks I was still on Clear Liquids and had introduced creamed Soups. Don't rush the diet. The esophagus and pouch needs time to heal.

I'm at 3 months and every day it's a challenge to either try something I want to eat, but it may give me the "stuck" feeling or may not, or eating something safe that I know will go down like Soup orcottage cheese. I can't eat poultry or eggs, but can eat beef (weird!) I just started being able to eat raw veggies last week. Some days I struggle with head hunger and wanting the taste of something I know won't go down. But then there are days when I could care less about what I eat, I just eat because I need to (love these days!). Good luck and take it slow. We'll get there -I haven't read any posts saying after a year they still can't eat this or that. It's temporary. Good luck. (prep - Aug. 278/ DOS - Oct 11-255/ today 1/16-206 Total loss -72 lbs.!)

James you and I started out at around the same weight.

I can't even dare to dream of possibly getting down to 160 pounds like you - that's crazy-insane!

I have'nt been anywhere close to that weight since high school!

Truly do you realize how nuts that is? To go from 280 to 160 in FOUR months? REALLY?

All I can say is, wow. I am not currently losing weight at a rate anything close to that. I'm at 20 pounds in 3 weeks.

Good job, dude!

Orothoman all I did was walking some I ate my Protein drank my Water and then ate my carbs I never deprived myself of anything because I told myself from the beginning that I was not on a diet they will always fail you I was doing a lifestyle change. I haven't been at 160 pounds for more than 20 years so I do know how you feel. Let me know if I can answer any questions

I did limit my high carb foods but if I wanted a piece of cake I had it just much smaller than before I never tried to over eat although I did eat to much to fast a few times and it come back out.

First things first- when I saw the title of this- I immediately read it in the old gypsy ladies voice.

Second- it will taper. I have heard 6 months, but it depends on how much weight you have to lose. Good luck!

And you will have steak again! I had it at 6 weeks and I have had it a few times since then.

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.
