My diet was 2 weeks liquid, 2 weeks purees 2 weeks soft foods. I am now at almost 8 weeks and still am not allowed white sugar, most carbs, no oatmeal, grits, rice, potatoes etc. no fruits and hard or fibrous vegetables. I'm at 80-100 grms Protein, 40 grms carbs 70 oz Water. I still chop a lot of what I eat into small bites. (I use a chopper). I only eat 1/4 cup per meal and eat 5-6 times a day. My nut is pretty strict, but in a good way. I am fully on board and am losing weight at a decent rate.

About the same as it was for me. At one year out today I am still sticking to Protein first, no drinking at meals, Vitamins, Water drinking, small portions, eat slowly..(the toughest one for me). I have to eat dense foods, (steak, hamburger, etc.) very slowly if I even attempt them. I still do whey shakes after workouts and when I think my protein is not up enough for the day.

Yeah mine was very strict too.

Weeks 1 and 2, Clear liquids

Weeks 3 and 4, full liquids

Week 5 puree's

Week 6 and 7 soft foods

Week 8 anything except meat

Same as the others above, Protein first, no milk, processed foods, bread/pasta and minimal natural carbs.

But it's worked and been worth it!

I'm hoping the link that serendipity Happens posted will expound on this, but I'm having a hard time imagining what foods are purées. Is this like yogurt, pudding, applesauce, Jello and other "tonsillectomy foods?"

And then soft foods without meat would be cottage cheese, Beans, uh... I'm drawing a blank here.

I admit that eating slowly is the difficult thing for me to do!

Puree's are generally anything you blended yourself or were pre-prepared as blended like hummus, refried Beans, applesauce etc. Soft foods would be like eggs (though that was tough for me at first) cottage cheese, beans/chili, soft cheeses. Really though soft foods are a tough one.

I had 7 days of Clear liquids, 1 week of full liquids,1 week of purees (chunky Soups blended up, etc), and now I'm at soft foods- re-fried Beans, tuna, baked fish, etc). The idea of gradually upgrading what you can eat is that the sleeve is not fully healed for 21 days, and doctors want you to give it time to heal. Being ABLE to eat something is not the same as SHOULD eat something.

I'm tolerating most things really well, even had lettuce today (I was on automatic and bit into an unwich from Jimmy Johns before I realized). I'm to not eat anything SOLID prior to one month post surgery... but chicken and steak go down just fine. :)

I was given liquids for my first meal (bfast) in the hospital the day after surgery and if you tolarate you are moved to pured/mushie foods for lunch. I actually had tuna and i was scared too eat it. The nurses were encouraging so i gave it a shot and down it went with no problem. So now at home i was told to try introducing all foods as long as they are Protein and pured for up to 3-4 weeks. I skipped the clear liquids.

With me 3 is the magic number. 3 liquids, 3 puree's, and 3 soft. I'm on stage 2 and pureeing everything in site. I've also allowed cottage cheese because that is so soft and easy to chew. In stage 3 I have to stay away from mostly white foods and breads , can have potatos, and gassy foods ( broccoli, cauliflower, brsl sprouts) unless they don't irritate me after trying them once.

Hi, I’m new here. I’m currently on the liver shrinking diet. So far so good, but I have to say I haven’t found a protein shake I like. Anyone have any suggestions please? My surgery date is September 17th.

Fairlife Core are by far the best. They taste just as they are - chocolate milk. You can either get the 26 grams or the 42 grams (harder to find and more expensive). For straight protein look at Bulksuppliments.com ..they have really good whey proteins and offer auto ship plus they test for purity. No taste or smell...

      2. BlondePatriotInCDA

Fairlife has strawberry, vanilla and of course chocolate. No more calories than other protein drinks. Stay away from Premiere, they're dealing with lawsuits due to not being honest about protein content.
