AllSmiles 22 Posted January 16, 2013 It has been exactly a year since I've gone to my doctor and began looking into weight loss options. I was supposed to be sleeved in October but insurance foul-ups and delays made it to where I didnt even think my insurance was gonna approve it. I had given up on the surgery. A week ago surprisingly I got a call from the bariatric center that I was approved! It was surreal, and took me by surprise. Had my surgery consultation and the date is set for Feb. 4th! Ive never been thin my entire life. My anxiety is through the roof. Im nervous and scared, its a completley new life awaiting me. 6 Weeks after surgery Im moving to Lafayette, Louisiana from Nebraska. Ive never been to Louisiana ever. So needless to say this is the start of a brand new me. A brand new home, brand new body, I dont know how Ill cope. Im already teary eyed thinking about it. sometimes change can be scary but Im stayin optimistic! Kendra :)

gmanbat 5,889 Posted January 16, 2013 Good for you! I used to live in Lafayette, Louisiana, loved the place. Cajuns are a blast! You might have to wait a bit on the cajun food, delicious but spicy. You're gonna like the South if you are like me, especially this time of year. I'm from Iowa so I pretty much know what Nebraska is like. I spent most of the day today out in the screened in porch, (Florida), painting in shorts and tee shirt. Not bad for Jan. 16. By the way, this is the one year anniversary of my sleeving and I am 1 pound from goal. My goal for next year: lose the pound.
Delena2/11 59 Posted January 16, 2013 GMan, one pound to goal totally doable! Good for you. Smiles, I too just got a date so I know how you feel. I am scared too but mostly excited. I think I will be more nervous the closer I get. My date is 2/19. It is really going to be a whole new life. I can't even imagine it. I am nervous about the lifestyle changes and pray that I am successful. Best wishes to you! Maybe in February 2014 we will be celebrating maintenance too! AllSmiles 22 Posted January 16, 2013 My goal is 155. Maintenance would be awesome. Also hearing that from a fellow farmlander is awesome. I'm hoping I'm gonna like it alot and my boyfriend keeps trying to get me to find some cajun good that I can eat. He doesnt understand that I'm not going to be able to at first lol. When you get to the solid stage those shrimp, crawfish, and assorted fish in LA. are awesome! Étouffée and Jambalaya can be great if the cayenne pepper is abandoned.
