Lisa Lampinelli on Wendy Williams

Recommended Posts

I just watched comedian Lisa Lampinelli on Wendy Williams' talk show and she was very funny and very honest about her VSG WLS. She explained how and why she made her choice and how she lost 102 pounds in a year. She is 52 and looks really good. My favorite quote in response to the question about what do you say to people who think WLS is the easy way out and/or cheating, "If exercising most every day and eating 4 ounces of food at my 3 of 4 meals is cheating, then I guess I'm cheating." Her husband also had the surgery and she talks a good bit about the improvement in their relationship and the whole idea that the real work is just beginning (head hunger, emotional eating, maintenance, etc.) Maybe you can catch it on BET late tonight or on demand.

I loved that she was so honest and gave good info to the masses, who don't have a clue what the heck we are doing.

Total ignorance, in my humble opinion. How can anybody say major surgery to remove 85% of our stomach is 'the easy way out', is beyond me!!!! In the past I'd popped pills and would drop anywhere from 20 to 50 lbs, now THAT is the easy way out. Of course I gained it all back, plus some, EVERY time, but never the less, I took a pill or two. I think what we've done is smart, it works but anyone who thinks it's a magic bullet....they'd be wrong!

Hmmmm when I watched it I thought she said it wasn't the easy way out, that she was saying the sleeve was a tool, that the head work needed to be done as well, perhaps I misunderstood.

Obviously you did not see the clip. She never said this was the easy way out, she said the surgery was a tool.

Funny, I hated her on The Apprentice, LOL, but I find her an inspiration now! Knowing how heavy she was before, and how the surgery has helped her lose weight, makes me feel assured that I will do it, as well!

Fabulous!

Thank you for posting this. Wow she sure looks a lot thinner than when she was on apprentice. She is a lot happier you can tell.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
