I am 15 months post op and have been in a stall for over 3 months now. I know that the reason I'm not losing right now is b/c I'm snacking way more than I should be. What's great is that I haven't gained ANY weight!! I'm also at, what I believe, is my "set point" (the weight my body wants to be at). In the past when I've gotten to this point, I give up and I gain it all back. Now, that doesn't happen!! My only regret is that I waited so long to do it!! I would do it all over again in a heart beat!!!

I am right where you are one year out. Not stalled because I did drop a pound or two in the last couple months, but it's been horrible slow and I think my body is very happy where it is. I also think I have 10+ pounds of extra skin to boot.

I do not regret this at all. I know for a fact that I could not have lost this weight on my own, let alone keep it off.

On the note of missing food in type or quantity: I am still a total foodie. I still love to cook and love to eat. It's just that I am physically unable to eat in quantity and have attached my cravings to foods that are so much healthier. To me, it's turned into a hobby --- looking for new ways to make really good high Protein meals.

The lady that calls herself "Eggface" was instrumental in realizing that I could lose weight and still be a total foodie. She has a website and Facebook page.

I'm at the start of my journey with all the planning to get surgery. This his me straight on at the thought of losing my friend in food for comfort, stress, etc. I know that it is a cruel friend, but I always go back for more punishment.

I'm looking forward to not feeling the regret and shame that I feel now after I have visited and partied with food. I look forward to not feeling uncomfortable in my own skin. I look forward to playing with my children and not getting winded or feeling like the michelin man.

Thank you for starting this thread. I like seeing if anyone has regrets.

I have thought about if I must go this extreme to get rid of 55/60 pounds. My meds and Co morbidity issues make me say yes most days, but no I'm not 100 percent sure. But I keep doing what it takes to get approval.

I am not sleeved yet however' date=' i have NO problem losing weight. I have always been able to lose the weight but keeping it off is a different story! I am pretty sure we have all been on MANY MANY MANY diets and can teach a class on the does and don't of weight loss. However, we or sould i say I do not have the will power to do it on my own. The sleeve is a TOOL we still have to work at losing the weight, but the sleeve is our little personal trainer of food when we eat something we are not supposed to it will let us know! I have been Protein shakes since October and everyone at work keeps asking are you sure you want to have surgery you are doing so well on the shakes my answer to them is I know myself. I Know I CAN NOT live off the shakes for the rest of my life. I know i can not live off of 800 cals a day either.[/quote']

I get the exact same response at work from my co-workers and I work in a hospital. I know myself and I need the "tool" to accomplish my goals and stay that way.

You are right, with everything that you are doing ANYONE would lose weight but dont lose sight of the fact that we have all tried doing that stuff a million times and it never sticks. The reason for surgery is because it addresses how much you eat LONG TERM.

Well any little doubts that I may have been having (surgery not scheduled yet) were erased as I left the doctors office with yet another obesity related diagnosis-obstructive sleep apnea, another blood pressure pill (which makes 4 a day just for that), nexium added for the GERD. So my pill total is between 9-13 pills a day. Also kidney damage is begining due to this blood pressure and diabetes. Moving forward to pschy consult Friday then submitting for approval.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
