Surgery 12/14/12 and my weight loss has stalled!

Recommended Posts

I was losing pretty well since my surgery on Dec 14. I started at 194 and have lost 18 lbs. The last week or so I go up a pound, then go down a pound. Is this normal? It seems kinda soon for a stall to me. Should I be getting discouraged?

I'm at a stall to it's frustrating but pretty normal ! I had my surgery on the 17th of dec Ive been on a stall for almost 2 weeks now and it is annoying the heck out of me !!! I talked to my nut yesterday and she told me it's because i'm not getting the calories in like i need or the Water but that said yesterday i tried getting more in and it made me sicker then a dog . I have been doing 900 or just a little less and she said to go up to 1200 thats hard and Ive tried getting the water in but thats whats been hard also i am getting between 64-80 of Protein so at least im doing something right ! praying that the scale starts moving again soon

  • I am having a hard time with what to eat. I am trying tro get all of my Protein in by eating bars and shakes. But each of these are like a full meal and they fill me up pretty quickly. I want so badly to have a salad! But I am afraid of eating too much. I am scared to death of stretching my stomach out. This surgery has definitely taken the enjoyment out of eating.....but I guess thats what I need, right?

That funny. I had sleeve on 12/13, been stalled all of 2013 so far after nice losses prior. Saw my nut yesterday and she said to cut back calories to 500ish. She showed me a paper that says most should be around 500 cal at 1 month. Then she said I needed at least 120g of protein and I pointed out that 120g of protein by itself is 480 calories lol. So I am at a loss. Just going to keep going and follow the plan as best I can, keeping carbs under 40 and getting as close to 100g of protein as I can, and drinking a lot of water.

My plan says no Protein Bars. Try making thinner shakes between meals.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
