michelleandcolten 87 Posted January 16, 2013 Just out of curiosity, since I am looking into a tt, and reading like crazy over everyone's experiences..... I had 3 c-sections and an abdominal hysterectomy so am wondering how the pain is in comparison. My c-sections were super easy to heal from and little pain. However I know that the difference is in the righting of the muscles and the healing will be different. Any imput?
Teddy bear 42 Posted January 16, 2013 sorry to tell u this.... but I had 2 c-sections, so I thought to myself, this is going to be a walk in the park for me, since I'm used to having my tummy slit open and this isn't even going to be a surgery.... it's an endoscopy..... but later I found out it was a whole other story... I'm not telling u this to freak u out... just telling u what to expect.... and I was in real pain for only 2 days.... 3rd day was bearable... it started as shoulder& rib pain... like my whole left side was broken.... but with medication & DRUGS ( I actually bullied the nurses to give me more drugs ) I could sleep... I had no problems with the stitches... changed the bandages everyday.... I could also shower right after I went home from the hospital.. doctor said it was no problem.... so go for it... it's really worth it
It's all new 453 Posted January 16, 2013 Sounds like you are wondering about the pain of a Tummy Tuck compared to a caesarean? I can only tell you from what I've heard from others, but it looks like a TT is much more painful. I'm not sure about the hysterectomy. I had open surgery to remove my kidney, including cutting out part of a rib. I really thought there could be little out there that would be that painful but my doc has told me a TT is worse. kwindham 57 Posted January 16, 2013 I have never had a csection, but I have had a hip to hip incision hysterectomy. My TT is scheduled for next week, so Ill let you know how it compares. Ifs really weird how there is such a HUGE difference in people pain levels. All I can do is hope im one of the ones that the pain is minimal and keep my eyes on the prize!!! NO muffin top!!! BlueOctoberGirl 111 Posted January 16, 2013 I have had 2 C sections and just had a TT on Nov. 12th. The TT was much worse. The incision pain was about the same but where the muscles are tied is pretty rough. I would do it again but be ready for a long recovery. I am 2 months out and still hurts a little when i sit up. mommyradd 115 Posted January 16, 2013 Okay so here's my two cents. I have had 4 C-sections, and my gallbladder removed. My last 3 C-Sections were recent, 2008, 2010, and 2011. Like you, I had little to no pain after them. I did not take morphine in the hospital after the births, and only took pain meds at home, very sparingly. I was back to normal in a couple of days and only felt sore when I climbed up into my bed. The gullbladder was not as easy. I vomitted, and felt sick and in pain. I stayed in the hospital for 4 days, and only a day and a half after each C-Section. Now my sleeve surgery. I was suprised at how uncomfortable I felt afterwards. I felt a little nauseated, but with meds, it passed within a day or so. I went home the next day, and I walked as much as I could for fear of gas pain that I had read about. It helped, as I only had two bouts with gas, and that was the worst of it. I had a soreness where my incision was, closest to were my C-Sections had been, for three weeks. It hurt to bend over, but all else was fine. I have a 15 year old, 4, 2 and 1 year old, so I had no choice but to "buckle up soldier." So I would rank it as the hardest surgery I have had to recover from, but by no means beyond normal soreness and minor discomfort. It has also been worth it. So glad I did it. Best of luck to you! frumpynomore 204 Posted January 26, 2013 Just being honest...the TT is so much worse than an abdominal hysterectomy where the incision is vertical from belly button to pubic bone! My doc said it to me like this..."I'm going to fillet you like a fish on the operating table". His explanation is exactly correct! You not only get the hip to hip incision but the painful part is the stomach where your skin is removed from your body up to your boobs AND your muscles are all retightened which causes a lot of the pain too. I'm 3 weeks out from my TT now and still can't stand up straight and still uncomfortable. Yes, everyone experiences pain differently but overall in general a TT is considered to be one of the more painful plastic surgeries BUT i would do it again in a second as the outcome is more than worth the pain! lara0280 27 Posted January 26, 2013 hi frumppy, actually today i told my doctor that i meet a person who had a Tummy Tuck and was having a lot of pain when trying to straight, what he response is that could be 3 factors, first is the the patient doesn't deal really well with pain, second is that the patient had removed more than what should be, and third that there is a tissue that cover the muscles and that tissue is were the sutures must go to tight the muscles cause if you suture the muscle it self every time the muscle moves (trying to get straight) it will hurts and may last longer that pain. thats what he explain to me today
