Pregnant and banded

Recommended Posts

Hello all....I was just curious if anyone out there was pregnant and banded? I was banded in Jan 05' and have been at my goal weight for about 6 months (started out at 298, goal weight 152, now being 19 weeks pregnant I am at 166) I have not had my band released, I think for mental reasons....I don't want to go back to eating like I did before, and I seem to be gaining weight just fine. I eat my three meals then add in 2-3 small Snacks for the extra calories, I also allow myself a bowl of ice cream (calcium right!!!). I am a little worried about the port getting pushed around when I get bigger...I already have port sensitivity. Anyone with advice or in my situation I would love to hear from.

Take Care and keep on shrinking!!!

Angela

P.S. I have a running joke that I am probably one of the few women who will have to grow into my skin, while being prego!

I have just found out that I am pregnant. We haven't had an ultrasound yet and have had strange periods so I am either 5 weeks or 9 weeks. Not very far along at all. My lap band doctor said I could keep my band up to my 7th month but I am going to go ahead and have it out. I currently have only .7 cc in and am real restricted. At one point I did have 2 cc but began to have acid reflux.

Congrats!

Kim... your having your band removed? or just having your fill taken out?

Congrats to you both on your pregnancies! I hope to join you sometime after the new year!

Kim,

You scard me to with the taking it out thing....I am glad you stated it was just the fill !! Congrats to you to!! I hate to admit it but I am behind on paying my doctor bills so I am not sure if my band doc will help me with this....I am more relying on my family doctor for guidence in this. I am taking alot of Vitamins and really watching that I get enough for two...but a little worried! I will keep you informed on how I go, and maybe you can learn some from me.

Angela

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.
