Silly- What's your "Theme Song" ?

Recommended Posts

Silly I know... But if you could give your WLS/Journey a "theme song"...

What song would you choose for "before" and "after"????

These are my choices...

BEFORE THEME SONG...

(You See the Real Me - Natalie Grant)

AFTER THEME SONG...

(This Girl is On Fire - Alicia Keyes)

Before is "it's my life" by Bon jovi, and I'm taking it back.

After, my flab and I are "never ever ever getting back together" Taylor swift. We are broken up for good.

Or "50 ways to say goodbye" by train, because I've kept the surgery a secret, I think I've told people about 50 different ways I've lost the weight.

before - "You See the Real Me" - after "This Girl is on Fire"

Yasmine

the "before" song by Natilie Grant has beatiful words :)

words are very sad, hard to listen to :(

words hit too close to home :(

I / you / we see too many true words in this lovely song :(

"for me" - it would be too much of a down song that i don't/need/want to listen to

i was that person in the song before - i will always remember her

i am only looking at my healthier, happier wonderful future :)

sounds like i'll have a bunch of great uplifting songs to chose from for my after :)

Oh wow, what a fun topic!!!

The theme to Rocky and I Am Woman by Helen Reddy

I am woman, hear me roar

In numbers too big to ignore

And I know too much to go back an' pretend

'Cause I've heard it all before

And I've been down there on the floor

No one's ever gonna keep me down again

:)

Thanks everyone for sharing. I really like this thread... <3

I absolutely LOVE music, and I find it very healing...

I realize that my "before" song is very somber, but that song speaks my truth. In fact, I listened to it over and over right before my surgery. I was about chicken out, and that song actually help me. :)

But I'm pleased to say that my "after" song... which I guess really isn't an after song, cause I'm only 2 month out- It's a vast contrast!

With the weight that I have lost so far I'm already gaining confidence, and self esteem which I soooo needed. I forgot how it felt to feel Pretty, Empowered, and Worthy.

My advice to myself, and others...

Do not dwell on the past..

(Forgive yourself and others)

Enjoy the present...

(Acknowledge the small triumphs)

& Look forward to the future...

(It's never too late to live happily ever after!!!)

May God bless us All O:-)<

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.
