adrimc26 7 Posted January 16, 2013 Hi guys I hope everyone is doing good!!! This is what happened. I'm 9 months out and today I went for my checkup I met with the nurse practitioner and she kind of got VERY discouraged. For the last 2-3 months I haven't been able to lose weight I'm up 2 down 2 and that's it, so I got worried, she said well Adriana I think this is it you're done loosing weight, and your body is just done, so I asked: does that mean that even if I keep going to the gym and eating well my body won't lose any more weight and she said yeah most likely. I'm terrified yeah I lost 63 lbs but I was hoping to be one of the 100 lbs "losers" did this happened to any of you? Can you be done by 9 months out? It's a little crazy to me but she might be right am I done?
Ms skinniness 3,003 Posted January 16, 2013 I really don't think your done.. At around 6 months it got more difficult to lose weight. But I did lose. It's very normal to bounce up and down a couple of pounds. So don't give up hope, just eat healthy and exercise and you will see more come off, it just takes longer. adrimc26 7 Posted January 20, 2013 Thank you so much it's hard not to get discouraged by the same people who did the surgery
Holly5.3 423 Posted January 20, 2013 You've done fantastic and look gorgeous! Let their words fuel your desire to lose more and prove them wrong! Remember, you are smaller now so it will take longer. Do you track your calories? When I stopped tracking I noticed my loss slowing (just a little though, I'm at 3 months post)-I was taking in too much. Good luck! Plateaus or stalls are frustrating yet temporary!
moregoodtimes 331 Posted January 20, 2013 You are not done! Do not allow her words to become your self-fulfilling prophesy!
MichiganChic 3,262 Posted January 20, 2013 She may be speaking statistically. I would think that you can continue to lose if you continue to consume less calories and excercise regularly. Only time will tell, but I wouldn't take that statistic and accept it just yet. Good luck!
Kapoorvilla 117 Posted January 20, 2013 This kind of thing drives me crazy preop all I heard is it is all in the math. Put in less and put out more and you have to lose weight. Now that I am putting in less daily and will for the rest of my life suddenly that unfailing math does not hold true!
Holly5.3 423 Posted January 20, 2013 This kind of thing drives me crazy preop all I heard is it is all in the math. Put in less and put out more and you have to lose weight. Now that I am putting in less daily and will for the rest of my life suddenly that unfailing math does not hold true! So true! I found a scrap piece of paper with all my surgery paperwork where I computed my losses based on 'statistics'! Sooo funny to read afterwards! I'm thrilled to lose an average of 10 lbs. a month, by my calculations Pre-op I should almost be at goal! I'm almost out of the 200's so I'm sure as I get closer to my goal my loss will really slow down. But my math cracked me up percentages, division.. I didn't work that hard in math class!
