Are you from Texas cause that's where it's most popular I don't particularly think I would like the procedure because its the Lapband w the gastric pilcation the Lapband for one is just a bad idea then the pilcation is when your stomach is folded over like a sleeve and stapled ..I think it's too much going on at once and I don't agree w having my stomach folded over I figure I cut out my stomach cause its not like imma go back and unfold my stomach no harm intended but why do you see more ppl w the pilcation visiting this site cause the site for ppl that support pilcation it's no one really speaking out about it believe me I've thought about the pilcation so I've researched the procedure it too new plus w the band added to it please just do your research why go through all of that when you can Have your results w one procedure the band is a temporary procedure it's not met to stay in your body for every a lot of ppl don't kno that good luck to you

There's many reasons I chose plication over sleeve. One of them is my mom nearly dying from the sleeve. She is seven months out and still not back to work. She has/ and will be going through several more surgeries to fix what happened. So for me the sleeve was not the right choice. I was going to get the lb initially, but decided against it for my own reAsons. During my research I met wonderful people on the lb and sleeve site, that are still my friends and supportive today. So I go back and forth to all the forums. I love my plication, and the post op diets/ lifestyle changes are the same. I'm not sure what research you found on plication, but I have no staples anywhere in me lol. Wls is a personal choice for everyone, but I find the lifestyle change is shared by all. I'm not here to push plication, and there are no rules on who goes to what site for support. But I will give my opinion on plication If asked because I have it and am doing great. Good luck with your choice;)

All I told her in my opinion what ive research it has nothing to do with your choice and I also said for her to do her on research because I don't think a personal choice should be made based on others ppls failers ,experiences and success and yes I've done research and visit the pilcation forum and its dry over there does that mean your not doing well "no" I'm happy your happy but my post wasn't for you it for her the OP this is a forum full if facts and opinions don't be so sensitive most ppl here are bias because we've choice the sleeve but like I said please just do your research go bust the pilcation site you'll see what I mean

She had it here in Canada with a very reputable surgeon. Just part of the 1% I suppose that has bad luck and complications. Clearly by the forums most have little to no complications, but it scared me lol. I can't be down and out for that long, I am too busy. That being said any wls can have complications but I opted for the less invasive procedure because of what happened. And lb had to much follow up crap that I don't have time

For either although I know many that have been successful with that. To each there own, pros and cons to both;) oh and I had mine in Mexico, no issues at all and they have been great with follow up:)

I appreciate all of your responses and support.. After careful research of facts and ppl's experiences. I have decided to go ahead with the sleeve. Based on the facts that in a case study of 135 ppl that were divided into groups part of them sleeved the other plication. Success rate with plication was 78%, with sleeve was 97%. The weight loss is faster with the sleeve and also it has been around longer and therefore has been proven at this point to be more successful. The plication is literally still a "clinical study and investigational" which is why information on it is so limited. I just want to make an educated decision for what is best for me, it doesn't mean i'm judging anyone else on their decision. I just found that there is more knowledge "whether good or bad" with the sleeve by far then with the plication.

The pro of the plication was the reversibility,. however if i lose my weight, at what point would i want to reverse it?

Thanks,

Kemi

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
