good news and bad news

Recommended Posts

So I have been having problems with vomiting over the past week. Everything I try to eat makes me throw up and I just feel nausea throughout the day. I finally called my surgeon to set an appointment. I am 4 months out and have been doing really good for a while after my issues of constant vomiting and nausea the first month and half after surgery. I couldn't eat and could hardly tolerate any liquids and was in the hospital a lot for dehydration. Well now that because its starting back up he wants to do another endoscopy. I did one 1month post op and they found no issues. They said it was the perfect sleeve so I'm wondering what they think they will find with this one? I almost feel like they just wanna keep running tests just to run them and I dont want that to be my first choice. So they r gonna try other meds first and if it doesnt work within a week I will have to schedule another endoscopy. He said something about the difference would be I had the twighlight sedation before and they want to try with general anesthesia next. I dont understand how that makes a difference. I'm lost and kinda feel like I'm being passed around almost. Anyways the good news is I'm 4months out and have lost 76 lbs and they said my weightloss was phenomenal so that made me feel good. I just wish the first part of this post was better news.

I don't know why your doctor wants another endoscopy because I don't know what exactly he is looking for, but I can help a little. I am a CRNA (nurse anesthetist) and I do a lot of propofol sedation/IV general anesthesia for endoscopes. The difference between the two for your doctor is that when you are more heavily anesthetised and relaxed, it is much easier for him to see what he is looking for. I don't know of literature on endoscopy, but I do know that it makes a big difference in polyp detection rates during colonoscopy and I am sure it does for endoscopy as well. You may or may not require a breathing tube during the procedure. Either way, it will be comfortable for you. I hope that helps a bit.

That does exaplain it some but just afraid they will go in and find nothing which is a good thing but feel like its a waste of time. They out me on ativan which they say help with nausea but it makes me feel drunk so I u fortunately can not take it 3 times a day sine it wont help me much at work. And the endoscopy is not scheduled until 2/22 which is over a month away. The only thing I can hope for is the nausea eases off

Could it be possible that your Vitamins make you sick? If I take my vitamins on an empty stomach, it makes me puke.
