Sorry you are going thru this. You have no choice but to be as strong as you can as you recover. Take help where you can and go to the ER if you're going downhill, you have to be your own strongest advocate, no wonder you were in so much pain!!!

I am being admitted right now. My infection is spreading and my skin is making its own holes. The Dr wants to scan my belly and possibly put me under and clean everything out.

I'm going in for a ct scan soon. They are going to see how bad the infection is. I was find out if I have to have surgery to remove it.

Deep tissue is clear, I'm on antibiotics, antifungal and back on pain meds. The button that I can press every 6 mins. It's morphine.

I am at Maryview hospital Portsmouth VA. Also where I had it done.

I'm just in the rare group that this happens to. I haven't had a good day since surgery 1-6. Hopefully once this clears up no more issues.

These show how bad they had gotten. On one the skin hadn't come off yet and the small purple circles with stuff in them ended up being holes after my skin peeled.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Anyone had the TORe procedure? How did it go? How much weight did you loose?

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Your so close now! It's gonna be great :) Wishing you a speedy recovery and looking forward to seeing how it goes!

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
