I really think you should be drinking some Liquid Protein like Isopure to help your skin start healing. Your wound is very deep.

Though I know isopure is yuck but I believe it is more like a medicine at this point. I hope you can get a loved one to bring you some... Whatever Protein Drink they will allow but something

(Hugs)

I am so sorry to hear what you are going through. I was sleeved on 1/16/2013 as well and thankfully did not have any complications. You are in my thoughts and prayers! If it is still not healing, I hope they will culture the area and get you on the right antibiotics if you are not on them already!

I am so sorry you are going through this... :( but I can say this very thing happened to me after having my tubes tied 14 years ago..but I am here to talk about it...and this is my biggest fear having surgery in March..but I know it seems like it will never close up..it will and you will be fine..and when you are skinny you will have a scar to remind you of the battle you won against obesity... Sending prayers your way... Stay strong :)

Yes its been hurting horrible since surgery. The Dr just kept assuring me that was the incision the stomach came through and had stretched muscle. She saw me Thursday said everything was fine by Saturday I was swelling up again' date=' by Sunday I was really red. The wound has to be left open to heal from the inside out. And my Dr expects my fiance to do it. It has to be repacked with the medicated gauze twice a day. We did it a few hours ago but I pretty much had to be held down. The gauze has to be shoved in with sterile qtips. Because of the way they did it at the drs office I believe it has caused anxiety attacks.[/quote']

I'm sorry to hear this I'm 2weeks out and it gets better ..did they give you an antibiotic drip before surgery ? I really feel for you as I had regretted my surgery the second day out do to vomiting from the pain meds .. But once you heal from this it's gone be peaches and cream

It's a soft tissue infection no one knows what exactly it is though. They have put be on 4 diff bags of antibiotics one was even an antifungal. Makes me believe they just really don't know. They have to repack it a few times aday. Talk aboit painful. Even morphine doesn't take the pain out of the incision site. Oh and that incision was the one they used to pull the stomach through.

I'm wondering did they put the stomach in a sterilized bag before they pulled it out ?

Im hoping you feel better soon asifitsthelast. I suffer from hedritis superativa which is similar to what it sounds like you are experiencing only my body doesn't need an operation to evoke this condition.

Essentially my lymph nodes can't get rid of the "garbage" fast enough and they become infected and have to drain. The pressure building up behind the skin becomes excruciating at times until it finally pulls the skin so much it drains pus and blood. I know....gross.

The great thing is that once it drains you are on the road to recovery! It will def take a while for your wound to close and more than likely your skin may be a little tough there moving forward but again you're probably over the toughest part. Keep us posted hon!

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
