I am planning on surgery in late feb early march, I have a year old daughter and a husband in the navy, wondering if anyone out there with toddlers have any advice, I think I will need help but afraid to ask other navy wives, they have their own kids to take care of. How long before I can pick up my daughter after surgery? HELP!!!!!

I have a 22 month old and my doctor said after 4 weeks I can pick him up regularly. Until that point, I can pick him up a couple times a day, if needed.

I have 2 small children and I am 2 weeks post op. In the past week I have had situations come up where I had to lift my 4 year old and both of there bikes and I was fine. I just make sure I'm careful and lift with my legs like jobs teach you to do.

I have 3 young children, youngest was 2 when I had surgery 3 weeks ago. You will definently need help ,I did because my daughter wanted to be held but I couldnt hold her. My Doc said 6 weeks also, she weighs 30 Lbs so add five lbs each week after surgery (wk one you can lift 5 lbs, week two 10 lbs...).I also froze meals before surgery so it was easier on others and stocked up on mac and cheese , PBJ and got stirofoam cups plates ,bowls, plastic spoons so clean up would be easy. Good luck make sure yor Protein is ready for week 1 that was the hardest part for me( and getting enough liquid in). unjury.com has chicken flavored protein that is allowed in the Clear Liquids stage it tastes pretty good. wish you the best.

Trying to figure out diaper changing and nap time! Ahhhh!! :-)

I made my daughter get up on the dinning room chair then up on the table and lay down, The table was level to my waist so it made it very easy to change her, Good luck

I am planning on flying family out to help for a couple of weeks and then we will be having naptime and playtime and all diaper changes on the floor once I am on my own. The FAQ packet from my surgeon said no lifting kids for 6 weeks.

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
