HopeFaith 15 Posted January 15, 2013 Hi All, I had the band removed and the sleeve done on 12/28/12. I haven't had any complications - in fact recovery was better than the band. I was sleeping on my left side in two days. I could get out of bed without holding on to anything. The bandages (tape) are falling off the incision every couple of days. So when I say I am constipated I'm perplexed. I haven't had a bowel movement in three days (this is day three). I have had Fiber Choice (chewables), and CVS brand Fiber drink - and still nothing. To add to my 'lack of pleasure' when I eat - I am FULL in no time. A small 4oz cottage cheese isn't able to be finished. Today might be my day, my stomach is gurgling and I have a little gas. Anyone else having 'discharge' issues? Any ideas?
cuteasabutton 19 Posted January 16, 2013 I am a month out and I stopped taking the Iron supplement because it made me so constipated it was awful! Anyone with a good solution. I tried stool softners ducolax prunes. Finally go things moving better afraid of the iron! 1 stomlin75 reacted to this
HopeFaith 15 Posted January 16, 2013 Actually, I have been relieved. Hopefully it doesn't happen again. The scale actually moved in the right direction too. I was going to try prunes next but they are so sweet (I might buy some just to keep on hand, old remedies are sometimes best).
HopeFaith 15 Posted January 16, 2013 BTW, thanks for responding - I appreciate it. I plan to see my doctor again on February 15th, I will ask about Constipation. However, if it happens again before then I'll call the Nurse after day one.
pianomom 34 Posted January 28, 2013 I had my sleeve on 12/26 and I have found that I need to take stool softeners. The first day or so, I also took a Dulcolax with the softeners but now if I take the softeners every day, I am staying regular. I also read that eating oatmeal will help and I am eating a small bowl of Wheat Chex softened with fat-free milk before I go to bed at night. Hope this helps!
