So class starts today. I will be there for 4 houts and need something to bring to eat that doesn't need to be cooked/ heated. Any ideas? I was thinking meal bars but have never tried them. Are there any tasty low cal, low sugar ones out there?

Where do y'all find the Protein bars?

You can find Protein bars at any drug store, GNC, or Walmart. Some of them are very good, and if you are concerned about carbs the Atkin's brand bars are really good and better for you.

I used to put Protein Powder in a mixer bottle then took a bottle of Water and mixed it up when I was ready to drink. Also I would take a little insulated lunch bag and pack fruit, veggies and string cheese

Good luck this semester, I started back today too :)

My school has microwaves, so this weekend I made a bunch of cupcake recipes and I have a little tiny lunch box that's fits 2 perfectly, and it has a little ice pack in the lid, its awesome so I do that. I throw a string cheese in, and I am good, but you could do cottage cheese & fruit, egg salad, tuna salad, etc. I love the little box because I can't be lifting a lunch box around all day on campus.

lunch meat roll ups are a good idea too. Obviously can't leave them out all day but if you eat them in a few hours its okay. Hummus with cucumber chips- I do that a lot as a snack.< /p>

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
