Dr. in Rochester NY area?

Recommended Posts

hey, dont know of any Dr's around ROC but you can use the Dr. search tool on Obesityhelp.com. Thats how I found my Dr. It gives you patient reviews on most Drs and their affiliated Hospitals or clinics. If you are a selfpay Ive read that there are some good ones in Toronto.

Do you know of any support groups around Roc? Im in Geneseo so somewhere in the greater Roc area would be awesome.

michele,

there is a doctor in rochester at highland hospital's bariatric unit that does gastric bypasses and lapbands. look in the frontier yellow pages under physicans and bariatric surgeons.

i tried to go to them for a fill but they won't see me because i don't have any insurance and would be a self pay. i also think they don't want to touch me because i got my band placed in Mexico.

Hi Michelle,

My husband and myself just attended a meeting at Rochester General Hospital where Dr. Galvin and Gusmano practice. My husband had the lap-band procedure performed on October 13th. There is a a new CEO at RGH and are right now in contract talks and the physicians are 95% sure on December 15th the bariatric center at Rochester General Hospital will be closing.

It is a very sad day. For the patients that are pre op, post op (like my husband) and also the lap banders looking for fills and only one other physician in that area will be doing them.

There needs to be some sort of change where the physicians and the hospitals start listening and caring about the people that are obese instead of looking at the all mighty $$$$.

We will be looking also for suggestions with what my husband should do. There are only 2 physicians in the Rochester area that does the lap band procedure and one will be probably leaving the Rochester area on December 15th.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
