bulimia

Recommended Posts

I'm almost a year post op I've lost 114lbs

But lately (the last few months) I've been removing whatever I ate...it's becoming more and more frequent. I'm afraid to go back to what I looked like. I don't know if I'm dealing with bulimia

I'm a 33 year old man....feeling like a 16 year old teenage girl.

What do you mean removing?

By removing do you mean that you're purging?

I think it might be key for you to start tracking your intake again.Just so you can see how many cals you are actually eating. Then to maybe eat small frequent meals might help as well.

Being an ex bandster my sleeve did the purging for me for a while and I realized that this might become a problem fast.

You know what the problem is.Now,make a plan to deal with it.Maybe see a behaviour therapist if you cannot cope on your own.

Good luck.

You really do need to stop immediately. Bulimia can cause major problems with your esophagus, worst case scenario being cancer and when part of the esophagus is removed they use part of the stomach to repair and replace. When you have a sleeve there is no spare stomach to use. Please seek some help for this problem before you do some damage.

You may want to talk to a person who deals with eating disorders. Its great to have people tell you to stop but when it comes down to it you are dealing with a disorder that may be hard to stop. I'm in the same boat, but my issues seems to be around not eating enough. Each day I'm watching as I try to end the day with 0 calories. I do stay focused on getting in 80 grams of Protein but then I have to work out and expend at least the same amount of calories I took in. Yea, not good. I am scheduled to talk to someone about this because I don't think it's healthy but I do think it may be more common than we think. After all obesity is an eating disorder that we have dealt with and I bet its not all that unusual to go to the other side of the spectrum.

Hi everyone! I’m brand new here. I just went through all my pre-op requirements per my insurance company and now everything has been submitted and I’m just waiting for final approval and my surgery date. I’ve been doing research, watching YouTube videos, TikTok’s, ect.. trying to prepare my mind and what to expect so I’ll be ready for the surgery. I was so sure and so set and so ready and excited. However, now that I’ve done everything & it’s almost here, I am sooooooo scared! I know why I want it bc I’ve tried everything and I just don’t feel like I can lose weight by myself. I’m tired of being overweight my entire life. I’m miserable, but I keep psyching myself out afraid of GERD bc I know how that can be and I don’t want to have to get a bypass after already gaining the courage to even get VSG. I’m scared of complications like I’mgoing to regret doing it and be depressed that I didn’t just be more disciplined and try again to lose the weight on my own even sitting here typing this knowing in my mind i just can’t and don’t possess the discipline. I’m also afraid I won’t be able to handle the restrictions of the sleeve. What do I eat? I don’t know how to eat healthy really and don’t enjoy healthy food. I don’t know how to do this! I feel so defeated!Someone tell me they felt anything similar to this or am I not ready? I thought I was. I am so tired of being sick and tired and so tired of myself and so tired of being stuck and stuck in this body and somebody different on the outside from what I feel inside. I just want to ball up and cry.

The 14th was my day. I am home and recovery is going pretty smooth. They even let me walk out of the hospital. Picture of me in recovery curtesy of my boyfriend lol.

Neat you have a pic of this day! I was sooo happy to get my surgery. It was well worth it! And I'm not even near my goal. I had surgery Dec. 2!
