michelle2948 6 Posted January 15, 2013 Going through this incredibly tough yet rewarding experience has shown a bright light on some things I was in denial about!! So much of my eating prior to this I now know was mental or habit and NOT hunger. Now, not having those "hunger pains" we have all come to know and love, I realize how much I reach for food/snacks simply out of habit and not at all for hunger. It's so strange to think I ate and ate even when I didn't "need" to just because it was so habitual. So rewarding to know I now have the tools and am equipped to fight this addiction I have before refused to even admit I was suffering. My biggest weakness is/was bread and the fact that I have not had it in 2 months and do not desire it is so freeing!! Our biggest battles now are convincing our brains that we don't need that extra bite/piece and listening to our bellies telling us we are full. I try to remind myself as I am eating, when I get that "full" feeling, that the food is not disappearing and I can eat it again later or another time and I do not need to stuff that extra piece in now. It seems silly but I know now that that is basically how I was feeling that the food was going to go away and never come back, so I better eat every bite now. Leaving food on my plate was CRAZY to me.....now I smile at it and relish in it =). Looking forward to more and more "doggie bags" in my future!
