Houston17 115 Posted January 14, 2013 So I'm pre- op and just curious as to what the pain of the surgery is comparable to. I've never had a child so that wouldn't relate to me. I did have my gall bladder removed about 12 years or so ago laparoscopic. Can anyone say if its similar or worse? Thanks!
JerseyGirl68 1,172 Posted January 14, 2013 I had my Gall bladder out the month before my sleeve surgery (my first surgery/first time in the hospital) and I found the two recoveries (pain) to be very similar I actually thought my sleeve surgery was easier. I felt I was more mobile after the sleeve. I of course had dietary restrictions but other than that I would call them comparable for sure. Good luck! 1 Houston17 reacted to this
Houston17 115 Posted January 14, 2013 Thanks Jerseygirl. This definitely helps me!
ArtSong 291 Posted January 14, 2013 I had my GB out in the late 90s and my sleeve 9/26/12. The sleeve hurt so much more for me. I was so much younger when I had my GB out lol. Sent from my iPhone using VST 1 Houston17 reacted to this
Raven21 121 Posted January 14, 2013 I have heard that the pain and recovery, as well as the mortality rate (which is VERY low!) are very much comparable to gallbladder surgery. I'd have this again over labor pain ANYTIME! 1 Houston17 reacted to this
Houston17 115 Posted January 14, 2013 Yes Artsong, I was younger too with the GB. I guess the pain level depends on several factors! I know that it will be worth the small time of pain!
chitowngirl 886 Posted January 14, 2013 The pain is similar to being soar in the abdomen after doing 1,000 sit ups.
tinarho 29 Posted January 14, 2013 I didn't really have pain, just pressure. I did use the pain meds to the fullest, though. No point suffering. It was so much easier than a c-section. Good luck! 1 Houston17 reacted to this
Houston17 115 Posted January 14, 2013 Well chitowngirl, I have no idea what it feels like to do a 1000 sit-ups but I imagine that means pretty soar!
BeatrizS1974<3 sleeve 94 Posted January 14, 2013 I had my gall bladder out in 2009 and just got the sleeve 5 days ago. I would say the pain for the sleeve was easier.
LMFAO575 112 Posted January 14, 2013 Understand that that everyone's experience is always going to be different. I'm 5 days post op & this right side mid quadrant pain is persistent still. Feels like I was stabbed. I was in a way though! This to me is worse than delivering my 9# vaginally and my 7# via c-section. Still needing my narcotics twice a day. But I have faith that this too shall pass!
