debbie0406 59 Posted January 14, 2013 I have a wonderful NSV. I work for my Surgeon. Well, they are here every other week and today's the first day I have seen any of the team ( Doc, Nutritionist and Psych) since before Christmas. I love our Nut, she is wonderful. She told me I am so tiny and that I don't look like I need to lose anymore weight. I have been told by a couple of people at work, but you never know if they are just being nice. I still can't see a huge difference myself. Anyone else have this problem? Sent from my iPhone using VST 1 Ms skinniness reacted to this
MOMW 71 Posted January 14, 2013 Not seeing the new you is very common. I decided to take a picture and measurements each month. I can see the transformation through these, but I still see me in the mirror So just take a look at some old pictures and you'll see it too The other tool I use is a photographic height and weight chart. 1 Ms skinniness reacted to this

I have taken a couple of pictures lately. I think to myself. "Woo" you're still big and delete them. I know, I have issues. Ms skinniness 3,003 Posted January 14, 2013 I had difficulties for the first year. Now I'm more in tune. I don't head over to the big girl's sizes anymore and have to remind myself that they don't fit. I'm in between a small and a medium, but afraid to get a small, I don't like tight fitting clothing for this sexy body. LOL 1 debbie0406 reacted to this

I have a bad habit of picking up XL when I look at tops. It's funny how your mind works. Sent from my iPhone using VST
happilysleeved 114 Posted January 14, 2013 I have the same problem, our mind is a crazy thing! I'm in a M/L top and 12 bottoms 4 months out and I still pick up clothes that are too big! I also just cleaned out my closet this weekend again and made a big pile of everything that was 2 or 3 sizes too big, and my hubby walked in and asked if seeing that big pile made me happy and I actually had to tell him no it made me sad! And I have no idea why, if it was the fact that was a whole wardrobe on the floor or what because I really do love shopping for smaller sizes and trying on things that fit! I'm telling you, our brains play funny tricks on us! Hang in there 68 lbs is awesome!

theoldmusicbox 399 Posted January 14, 2013 i'm in a size smaller jeans (34in waist) than when i graduated high school (im 38) and i still think i'm a fatty. but, i have days that i honestly freak out when i go into the bathroom and see my reflection, cuz it just don't look like 'me'. we are our own worst critics. even though i still feel like a big fatty, my wife seems happy, so, that's good enough for me 1 debbie0406 reacted to this
linkybo 27 Posted January 14, 2013 I agree! My husband bought me a bunch of new clothes for Christmas - size Medium. What?! And some are kind of big. But when I looked at them, I was afraid to try them on because I'm so used to buying the biggest size, getting it home, and having it be too small. Still can't quite get the idea that things in the store will fit me. 1 debbie0406 reacted to this

clk 3,519 Posted January 15, 2013 First, congrats. It sounds like you've done a great job! Honestly, it takes a long time for the mind to catch up. And if I'm not careful, I can still forget and my mental image of myself will slide back into how I looked for so long. Even now, seeing a picture of myself at goal weight is really odd sometimes. I can't believe how SMALL I am. And it's ridiculous but I still worry every time I order clothes. I measure myself and use size charts but I always manage to work myself up about the fact that I'm ordering size small in anything. I live overseas and buy everything online - that wait to try clothes on is always a little stressful for me. I always worry that I'll need to send things back. It took me a long time to realize that I don't need the biggest in everything. When I'm able to shop in person I don't let sizes or labels bother me like they used to, either. Once upon a time I would pass on a shirt that looked great on me just because I had to buy it a size larger. Now I accept that I'm anywhere from XS to M depending on where I'm shopping and the material used in the clothes. And there's nothing wrong with that. My husband was ready for me to stop losing weight about twenty to thirty pounds before I was done. To him, I'm skinny. I can honestly admit that while I see myself as a much smaller person, the word "skinny" has never been something I'd apply to myself. So some things never change. But the longer you maintain at goal and get used to your new body, the more comfortable you get and the more in sync your mind gets. Good luck and congrats! ~Cheri
Dinora7 39 Posted January 15, 2013 We all go through this "I can't believe that's me" stay or we refuse to accept it. Im 7 wks away from my surgiversary I've gone from a 18-20 to a 6 even 4 sometimes and when it is a 4 I always assure myself it's a manufacturer mistake on the label! But I do have a little trick, when I'm feeling like I'm still 240lbs I grab a size 20 skirt I kept and I tryout it in an then look in the mirror, it's my " I did it" moment. The last pic is pre op the skirt pic is at 6 mos and the third was 1 mo ago
NtvTxn 1,262 Posted January 15, 2013 I am 2 years and 7 months out and I STILL have head game problems!! I am not sure it will ever end. I had someone comment on a picture just yesterday, she said 'you are so tiny' ME???? Surely she cannot be talking about me. Tiny, small, skinny.....those are not words I'm use to. I responded, 'It's an optical illusion' LoL Will we ever be able to acknowledge our new me??!!! I don't know. I look at me and if I can just look from the neck down, I see somebody that is slim, but it's hard to associate that person with the inside me. I still worry about what I eat, I know I know always make wise choices, but they told us, 'this is not a diet, it is a way of life' I think I eat like a naturally thin person. I am aware of every single thing I put in my mouth. I like to graze, and I do. Sometimes more than I probably should, but this is how I get all the calories I need every day. I am never really hungry, I eat because it's fun, social and I know I MUST. Life is good, if I put on a few lbs, I just cut out something for a few days and it's gone. Good luck.....but I think that this is just part of it. What do you think? Any other stories like this? I have a wonderful NSV. I work for my Surgeon. NtvTxn 1,262 Posted January 15, 2013 LoL I need to do that, I only have a couple of things, one is a pair of white denim shorts, size 20!!! I should keep them within reach!!! Good idea. Like you, I went from an 18 - 20 and now I wear 4's and 6's. I like Gap jeans, and have three different styles and three different sizes. 4, 6 and an 8. The 4's look the best but the 6's are more comfortable! LoL The size 8's fit just like the 6's for some reason. I STILL look at the 4's and think 'surely not'. LoL I love, love, love to shop now....before, I shopped because I HAD to have something. I never felt good about it or had a fun time.
