ambermerrell80 1 Posted January 14, 2013 Three days out from my surgery and first full day home. Feeling pretty sore, but otherwise in pretty good spirits. My lortab script is fabulous when I need it. I've been trying hard to get in my Water and Protein, but it is slow going. I get a lot of bubbles while drinking, even when I am taking in a very small amount per sip. I just remind myself to take it slow, and that this is all temporary. If you have any tips/tricks or words of advice I would welcome them!

JerseyGirl68 1,172 Posted January 14, 2013 The first few days were the toughest for me to get in the Water and Protein. It felt like all I was doing was drinking. Warm liquid went down much easier and I found a heating pad helped when I was sore. I had a very easy recovery and by day 5 I felt completely fine and could drink with no problem. Good luck! staboe30 12 Posted January 14, 2013 Congrats! I am 1 week out today! I recommend warm Water or Fluid to keep hydrated. Cold makes your belly contract. Also suggest a heating pad on your belly and lay on your left side to move the gas out. The weekend when my family was around was hard, today I feel pretty good! Best of luck with your recovery!! MOMW 71 Posted January 14, 2013 My best piece of advice is to get and walk. I went twice a day and each day a little farther. It helped clear my mind, got me in the routine of exercice and me heal faster.
Matthew 27 Posted January 14, 2013 Yes....recovery was good for me too. Through this whole process and the rest of your life....small and slow. It's a must. My problem is eating to fast....it's still seems like i'm forcing myself to eat and drink. But, your new stomach will let you know quick when you mess up. Walking always helps peristalsis (movement of stomach contents down and through the intestines).....now even close to post op and later down the road. Best of luck.
