Gotta chime in with my support of GHP. Dr. Baker patient here. nicden17 I think we were at a couple of the follow up appointments together. Do you ever go to the Monday night surgical support group?

I am also going to ask about the support groups for GHP. Do you go and are they helpful. I plan on attending them after surg.

Is that the first Monday of the month? My doc's office sends us to that one as well.

GHP has a surgical support group every Monday from 5-6pm at their building on East Paris. I have been going for nearly 2 years and find it to be very helpful. There are a great group of "regulars" all at various lengths of time post-op. Great discussions and tons of experience in that room every Monday.

Hey guys! I also had Dr Foote. He's awesome. I am almost two weeks post-op and wondering, what does GHP have you move onto after Protein Shakes? At your two week appointment after surgery what were you allowed to add to your diet?

Sorry it took so long to reply... We might have. ;) i unfortunately never made it to any of the support groups. I lived about an hour north of Grand Rapids. But I love that place and if i lived closer i would definately be at the support groups. Congrats on your weight lose paul :D

It's been so long, but i believe soft foods are next if your not already on them...Yogurts, cottage cheese...light things that are not heavy and litttle texture. Cottage cheese is my go to food...still 2 years later..easy to eat and high in Protein. If you can also i recomend..Isopure also makes a smoothie...tastes better then the Clear liquids..and it's 32g of protein in a bottle

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
