JerseyGirl68 1,172 Posted January 14, 2013 This will be my first ever surgery procedure and I'm really nervous. Any word of what I should expect with being put to sleep or anything. Thanks in advance for your responses I had never had surgery before my Gallbladder 1 month before my sleeve. The anxiety of the unknown is worse than the surgery. You'll get an IV, you'll get a shot of heprin before the surgery. Everything else will go into your IV. Be sure to ask the surgeon any questions you have as well as your anesthesiologist. Once wheeled into the OR, I only remember getting onto the operating table. Then, poof I woke up in recovery. Everyone's experience is slightly different, so read, read, read. You will become more and more comfortable with what to expect. Good luck!!
JennyBeth 127 Posted January 14, 2013 What's the shot of Heprin for? A blood thinner?
Misty_eyes 79 Posted January 15, 2013 What's the shot of Heprin for? A blood thinner? Yes! Low dose blood thinner to prevent blood clots forming in legs or lungs. ESP we will be in surgery immobile and mostly inactive post op. that's why the best prevention is to walk as soon as possible to avoid blood clot complications. AFinch 4 Posted January 15, 2013 Just waiting for my date. Was actually able to get it done in august and chicken out. Finally made up my mind and said enough is enough. I'm so nervous it sometimes upsets my stomach. I welcome any advice and stories.
