Good morning all. The surgery went well. I was released from the hospital about 26 hours after coming out of recovery. Walking helps a lot. I walked as often as I could. The worst pain was on the second day. Felt like I did 1000 crunches. It has subsided this morning. The most disgusting thing was the stuff I was coughing up. They intibated me and it caused some trauma. I asked the nurse practitioner and she said the color was normal. When I blew my nose today it was similar. I have small airways though so I hope no one else deals with that. If you do don't freak out if you see blood. Going #2 was a big deal. I'm switching to liquid tylenol today. Trying to get away from the oxycodone. We'll see how well I do. Good luck to everyone. Prayers were much appreciated.

Hi Sabrina! Good to know you did very well. Same thing with me, I went home the next day, but pain really hit hard at home. I am still taking lortab (Vicodin / tylenol) Syrup, and should be off that by tomorrow. Have a speedy recovery to all of us and will keep everyone in my prayers!

I stopped the Lortab during the day on Wednesday. I took more Wed night only because I had cramps. Fun times - my aunt pays a visit at the worst time. No more though - not until I get some stool softeners. Not fun trying to go for 30 mins. I switched to quick release tylenol gelcaps and they are working great!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Your so close now! It's gonna be great :) Wishing you a speedy recovery and looking forward to seeing how it goes!

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
