My husband and I were talking about the surgery and he said "soon you will only have to worry about loose skin"

I said, I think I may have a little on my stomach if any (I'm 235 now preop)

Then he says to me "well you have a lot on your back" ...meaning fat!

I thought to myself, ok so he thinks I'm going to have loose skin in my back!!!

Or was this his last dig he will be able to get in, before I lose weight.

Whatever! I was upset for awhile but I just thought... It will be gone soon! (Surgery 1/24)

I'm sorry you had to hear that. People don't realize how sensitive a topic ones body is, and you really find out what people thought or think of your body and how you eat as you lose weight. Even those closest to us can be a bit insensitive when they think they're being helpful. I hope all turns out well during and after your surgery :)

Yes! My husband is a good one, but no filter. It just made me think... Ok so this is the part of my body he will be happy to see go.

I hate to say it, but he may be feeling a little insecure about how you'll look down the track. Good luck with your surgery.

I was 246 pre op I dont have that problem I am at 186 now. So don't let what he said bother you. Do what you need to do for you. My husband said something about me being fat before I even considered this surgery. It hurt my feelings so I called and went to dr and had the surgery

And for the record, my back fat disappeared quickly!! That's the 2nd place my weight loss showed (after my face).

I HATE BACK FAT!!! I am still on the long road to approval...but if and when I have this surgery, saying goodbye to back fat will not come soon enough! I also hate the side boob....I hope that will go away with little to no extra skin, but my skin is on the thin side there. I just hope it can bounce back! Will have to look into a good firming skin lotion!

My room mate calls me a fat ass to this day and I'm almost 50 pounds down. I know he's insecure about how amazing and confident I look and feel but it still bothers me.

O I hate my back fat! That is one of the main things i pray goes quick. Now I have been having dreams about the loose skin...I hope that does not become a big issue for me. I am gonna work out as soon as I can. Does anyone know if some sort of compression garmet would help in our shrinkage?

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
