Newby waiting on approval.

I don't remember what my BMI is but weight is 250lbs.

If your BMI is 40 I think you do qualify.

So Research and no your rights!

Hi' date=' I'm new to this thread and was told that it would be great to join a support group.

I just finished everything my insurance asked of me, just waiting in an approval. I'm just nervous that my insurance isn't going approve it.

I could really use some great advice on how to keep the stress away and how to adapt to the "liquid diet". Thanks and I can't wait to read what kind of advice y'all have for me.[/quote']

Hi and welcome

Just focus on your reward, and you will do just fine.

Hi i am to new to the thread and am awaiting the insurance approval. My doctor gave me a surgery date 3/14 though so now I'm wondering if the insurance had previously approved it. My BMI is 41 so based on that I should qualify however my surgeon is asking me to lose 20 to 30 pounds prior to surgery which will drop my BMI. It's been a long six-month process with my insurance with classes and phone calls and now every Monday we have therapy sessions so I'm just hoping to get the surgery done and move on with my life

Well my dr said that she is not giving her clearance because my sugar is way too high. So I'm focusing on lowering it ASAP. I hope the wait isn't long for you.

Low carb/low sugar. I'm not familiar with the needs of diabetics, but I know I had a friend of mine that was diagnosed with diabetes and he regulated it through his diet. No pills/no shots, just changing his eating habits. He cut out simple sugars and high carbs. Good luck!

I was, at first, worried about being approved as well, but I still walked through life believing that this was going to happen. And I found out I was approved Friday. Stay positive! It will happen.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
