Wonder Slim Products

Has anyone tried the Wonder Slim products or bari wise products? I've been thinking about ordering some to try before I have my surgery but I don't want to waste my money.

I need some ideas for after the liquid phase of my diet!

Thanks!

I have not tried them, I looked into some of their "fruit juice" Protein drinks and found collagen in them so at that point I simply lost interest in them as a provider for any of my health needs.

collagen is a Protein, which is probably why a lot of their products are high in Proteins.< /p>

You are correct, collagen aka Gelatin is a Protein, however it is a Protein that cannot be absorbed by the human body. Just like all those Protein Shots out there. You can consume it, but you will recieve no benefit from it. And by all means do not count it toward your daily protein consumption.

I looked into it and decided against it.. I've looked into some yummy ways to make Protein Bars using Protein Powder instead. my concern is that the bars and products just seem too much like the foods that got me into this trouble in the first place. for me, I can't start a healthy new lifestyle when I feel like I'm eating candy bars every day for nutrition... so I'll make Protein bars at home so I can control the ingredients and sweetness.

The one that tickled my fancy contain: Protein powder, oats, PB2, milk.. you mix it all up and then roll it into balls and freeze.... I'm not currently eating any grains so I haven't tried yet.. but when I get to that stage post-op I'm going to start experimenting.. If you google around online there are a lot of suggestions!

So I need to look for collagen free products. Is there anything else I should look for? I knew those products were too good to be true!

Also the collagen thing... My doc said it counts but as we all know everyone is different!! I'm down 51lbs in five weeks! I must be doing soothing right!!

The PDCAAS is the standard at which Protein quality is rated. The fact is that collagen/gelatin is a horrible source of Protein. I'm sure your doctor is a great person' date=' and gas good intentions, however in this case he/she is wrong. I don't take specific nutritional advice from doctors, just as I didn't go to a nutritionist to perform my surgery.

The PDCAAS's score ranges from 0.000 to 1.000. The best score possible being 1.000

The following is a PDCAAS chart so you can see the score for yourself.

Also note there is no PER score for collagen. This is because it is such a poor quality protein source that the PER can't even score it.

Which is why porkrinds have tons of protein but the package states "not a significant source of protein" !

Companies should be required to list their EFFECTIVE Protein instead of protein that can't even be metabolized by the body. What is the point of even having protein listed?

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Your so close now! It's gonna be great :) Wishing you a speedy recovery and looking forward to seeing how it goes!

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
