I was served 1/10 and I came home yesterday and felt good which was probably because the morphine hadn't worn off. Last night I woke up to myself dry heaving because I had nothing to vomit up. I woke up three times to vomit and it hurt so bad to have my wounds move like that. Today I tried everything. I walked. I slept. I drank Water. I took meds as listed and I just feel so irritable like my skin is throbbing with cakes and pains and everything grosses me out. I'm scared this feeling won't go away and I have done setting irreparable.

Can anyone tell me they have felt this way the first couple nights and now they are better? I have heard people say they didn't feel any pain ever. I need to hear I'm not the only one because right now I feel miserable and just want to know it won't always be like this. Please.

Is it possible that the pain meds are making you sick? I get so sick taking vicodin but can take percocet. Please don't let the dry heaves go on too long. It is not good for your healing.

Maybe you're right. I have one medication for nausea that seems to help and one liquid pain med that makes me gag just taking it. But I can sip Water without gagging. I will see if I can stop taking it because the pain I feel is less than how much the nausea and dry heaving hurts. Thanks. Ill try. I just feel so sad. I thought I would be worried about eating and hungry but food is the last thing on my mind. I just want to feel healthy and I would follow my diet. I am going to try ruling out what is getting to me. Thanks.

Pain meds made me really sick I had to stop taking them. It will get better. It took me about a week to get over the throbbing incisions. They are still a bit sore, five weeks out and I still have to be careful.

Stick with Water and your diet and maybe try to skip the pain meds.

Most pain meds by there nature will make you nauseated. That is why most Dr's will prescribe a anti nausea med with any strong pain meds.

I'm so sorry you are going through this. I didn't have the dry heaving much but I know how you feel about the irritation and pain. I kept thinking to myself, did I screw up? Was I stupid to do this to myself? I promise it gets better. I am 2 weeks and a day pos op and I feel pretty good. I did get really dehydrated so be careful for that. But don't feel like your alone, I know what you mean!

Ok I stopped taking the liquid Vicodin and kept taking the anti nausea. I had a fever and chills but I took Tylenol and feel better. How long did everyone feel weak and tired for? I can only do so much before I need to sit down. Thanks for your positive words!!!

You should continue to get more energy back every day and after about 3 weeks to a month you'll be back to the energy level you were before surgery. Note that this is all related to getting enough Protein. For that matter when you get tired now drinking a Protein Shake will usually make you fell better.

I was sleeved on 1/8. I felt very nauseated that whole day. All I did was sleep. I had to keep on asking for nausea meds. Until finally I took myself off of morphine. To me the pain was tolerable instead of feeling sick. Once the morphine wore off I felt better. I was then able to walk and have a little more energy. I was getting real discouraged when others were doing so much better than me. I was still scared to drink because it hurts but I forced myself slowly. Still hurts when I drink and I am waiting for that to subside. But I am just taking it one day at a time. Trying to get in all my Vitamins, Protein, and Calcium in. Good luck and I think removing your pain meds might help you to feel better! God be with you!

Yes I agree! The nausea was the worst. The pain I could deal with. I'm no longer nauseous but I have experience dizziness, weakness and fuzzy vision. I was sleeved 1/10, two days after you. What are you eating?

My doc advised me that I might have some nausea after surgery and he prescribed nausea meds but I never had the need to take them. I think you body is reacting and everyone's reaction to surgery is different. I hope you start feeling better soon. :)

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
