Dec. 3rd sleevers, how are you doing? Have you stallled? Lost inches?

Recommended Posts

I was sleeved on Dec. 3rd and have struggled so much with my food addiction, that I thought that's why I've been losing one, gaining one. But! For the past three weeks I've been vomiting a lot after meals, (not on purpose but, from eating too fast) and still not lose any significant weight. I've made it down to 207.6 lbs from 230 lbs day of surgery. But for the past five days I've been 208.6. Doesn't matter how well I eat. Are you all just dropping 40lbs in your sleep? Or are you guys struggling too?

I was sleeved Dec 3rd as well and I am struggling with getting all my Protein in as most if not all food grosses me out. I'm not complaining about having no hunger but I don't want to become malnourished either. I stalled my second week for 10 days, but things picked up again and so far i have lost 31 pounds. I find that my weight loss slows or stops when I'm not getting my protein or fluids all in... But it's so hard sometimes with eating being such a chore. No vomiting yet but that's probably because I'm not eating. I'm sure your weight loss will pick up, if you're following plan then it HAS to. Just remember, slow and steady wins the race! I wish you continued luck on your journey.

Thank you!! I'm sure I'm not getting enough protein in. I have been trading Protein shakes in the morning for coffee. And sometimes I don't think I get enough Water. Thank you for your words of encouragement. :-) When I first got sleeved I was grossed out by anything but powders?utm_source=BariatricPal&utm_medium=Affiliate&utm_campaign=CommentLink" target="_ad" data-id="1" >unjury chicken Soup broth, and sugar free popcicles. I noticed things too sweet I didn't like anymore. Your taste buds will change. Congratulations on losing 31 lbs!!!

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.
