Hi Ga Sleevers!

I am so glad that I received the invite to this group! I am almost 3 years post op and I feel like I have failed myself. My 3 year anniversary is on February 12th and I have only lost 32 pounds. Everything was going great for the first 6 months. The weight just fell off all on it's own. But after some time it was as if I had never had the surgery. I mean I still couldn't (and still can't ) eat any significant amount, but since I had surgery in Mexico I had no support group around me that kept my mind in the game. If you do not surround yourself with peoole that have been through what you have been through you forget and you pick up bad habits again. I just finished eating two chocolate chip Cookies, my gym stopped teaching body pump, so I have not been to the gym in months and I jsut in general have started feeling like a fatty again and actually gained 20 pounds since my lowest weight post surgery. I need some help!

First I would like to say "Everything IS alright and everything WILL be alright!!!

Don't beat yourself up

First thing to fixing any problem is "acknowledgement" and you got that part out the way and now that you know you have falling a little off track we will simply get back up dust yourself off and try again "greatness is never to late"!! you know the format to success so lets start back over on the basics "Rome was not built overnight" we can work together to get back on track "you do better when you know better" when you get back on track you will be an inspiration to other because you have gone down that path and hopefully you will prevent others from traveling that same rode "everything happens for a reason. So with that said THE BASICS awaits you 1200 calories a day of "soft food" preferably "healthy choices" meat and vegetables YES!! lets count calories how fun -_- "I think" (lol) also if you have tossed out the Protein Shakes lets get back to those twice a day your body has the format and tools its just time you reinforce it!!!! No one is a failure here in "GEORGIA PEACHES " this is a forum of hope, support , encouragement and help!!!

FELLOW SLEEVER

YOU CAN DO THIS BECAUSE YOU'VE DONE IT BEFORE I BELIEVE IN YOU!!! :) :)

BEST WISHES,

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.
