JamesHRN 114 Posted January 12, 2013 Why would a cigarette hurt your stomach it is bad on the lungs and you should not smoke but doesn't effect your stomach did they bother your stomach before you had surgery
mokee 588 Posted January 12, 2013 Smoking effects your healing that is why they tell you to quit. I would not smoke too much in the next 3months until you are pretty sure you are healed.
lilbearzmom 584 Posted January 12, 2013 Why not just quit? What's the point of undergoing surgery to lose weight to save your life and then you continue to smoke, which will in all likelihood result in an early death anyway or at least severe loss of enjoyment of life? Get a patch or talk to someone, don't light up, seriously! -Kendra 1 newcomb9 reacted to this

Traci J. 207 Posted January 12, 2013 Actually smoking can cause ulcers in your stomach, and make healing more difficult. My aunt quit prior to her surgery because they wouldn't do it unless she did; she then went right back to it and had a bleeding ulcer and was told to quit or it would never heal. 1 lilbearzmom reacted to this

carbgrl 119 Posted January 12, 2013 Congrats on throwing out the cigs. Get rid of everything. Lighters, ash trays.... It's like eating. You have to get all of the junk food out of the house. I quit 8 years ago. Find an online support group.

Robbino 32 Posted January 13, 2013 I used chantix to quit. It worked for me. Three years smoke free and I had been a smoker for 24 years. 1 Diamondeyed reacted to this
